StarRupture Early Access Roadmap Promises Controller Support, New Game Modes and Content

StarRupture is available now in early access, and it’s already off to an impressive start thanks to several core systems already in place and decent performance across the board. That said, it’s apparent that StarRupture is missing some important features and customization.

The developers are aware of these and have already laid out their general plans for the early access period in their roadmap for StarRupture.

The most common request right now for StarRupture is controller support, which the game currently lacks entirely. There are also no tools to customize difficulty and opt for a “peaceful” mode, plus there’s no journal or in-game tutorials section either. The lack of these features and much more is something they aim to address over early access, and here are a few highlights:

  • Controller Support.
  • Custom Game modes with adjustable difficulty.
  • Codex.
  • Faster traversal options.
  • New resources, weapons, buildings, etc.
  • Accessibility options and improved keybinding.
  • Adjustable text size.
  • Dedicated Servers.
  • Additional corporation rewards.

They haven’t laid out a timeline of when you can expect these updates, but I imagine that quality-of-life additions will arrive soon. Ideally, I’d love to see controller support implemented as soon as possible because it’s possibly stopping a good chunk of interested players from trying out StarRupture. It’s honestly a bit odd that they launched the game without controller support in the first place.

The developers have also shared what you can expect when 1.0 is out, which will introduce achievements, the end-game content, an entirely new biome, and a condition called the “Freeze Wave”, which I’m assuming works in the opposite way of the Rupture event. It says more “story content” as well, and I’m assuming the ending is likely part of it.

Even in its current state, StarRupture has enough content to last you a while, and there is plenty of flexibility when it comes to defining what your goals are and how you want to approach its narrative-focused content. The gunplay feels great, and the Rupture event is a fun system that keeps you on your toes.
