How to Get Married

In order to get married in Stardew Valley, players must first build up a relationship with the person that they wish to marry. Like previous games in the genre, players will need to find the things that the person they want to woo likes and dislikes, and then work towards filling up an eight-heart meter. Once you have acquired eight hearts in a relationship, it’s time to take the next step. Head to Pierre’s Grocery Store and purchase a special bouquet. Then, present the bouquet to the villager that you have chosen to woo. This will begin the romantic portion of the relationship.

You aren’t quite there yet, though. You’ll also need to save up 5,000 Gold and purchase a Mermaid’s Pendant from the Old Mariner who can only be found on rainy days, down at the beach. You’ll also need to have rebuilt the beach on the bridge, and have purchased at least one upgrade for your home. Once you have accomplished all this, purchase the pendant, and then present it to the villager that you would like to marry. Three days later you will tie the knot with a wedding ceremony.

Life After Marriage

Getting married doesn’t mean you can just stop paying attention to your spouse, though. In fact, you’ll need to pay just as much attention to them after marriage as you did before, unless you just don’t care about things going sour. This can be accomplished by simply spending time with them, buying them gifts, or just being a part of their lives on a daily basis. Whatever you do, don’t ignore them for very long, or you’re going to run into some problems.
