Something Extraordinary Pokémon GO – All Special Research Rewards

Adding the Mythical to the Mythic Blade.

Mythic Blade began on December 6 in Pokémon GO, but we’ve had to wait a few days for the main event to truly begin with Keldeo at the center of the action. Now that the weekend is here, the Something Extraordinary Special Research story is finally live and there are plenty of rewards to be earned.

Before we get into the research details, it’s important to note that the Special Research story isn’t free for everyone. Not only do you have to log into the game over the weekend, but you’ll have to pay $8 for the event ticket as well. Once you’ve done both of those, you can begin your research, and we’ll cover all of those steps here.

All Special Research Rewards for Something Extraordinary in Pokémon GO

There are seven steps in total for the latest event ticket in the Mythic Blade event. As soon as you claim the Special Research, you’ll have it available until you complete it. Below you can find all of the challenges in each step and the rewards that follow.

Something Extraordinary 1/7:

  • Make 3 Curveball Throws – 500 Stardust
  • Catch 10 Pokémon – Oshawott Encounter
  • Take a snapshot of a wild Pokémon – 10 Great Balls
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Machoke Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Something Extraordinary 2/7:

  • Battle a team leader 3 times – 750 Stardust
  • Catch 5 different species of Pokémon – Staryu Encounter
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times – 1 Charged TM
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Breloom Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Something Extraordinary 3/7:

  • Battle in a Raid – 1,000 Stardust
  • Catch 5 Fighting-type Pokémon – Buizel Encounter
  • Evolve 5 Pokémon – 3 Incubators
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Scraggy Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Something Extraordinary 4/7:

  • Battle in the GO Battle League 5 times – 1,250 Stardust
  • Catch 7 different species of Pokémon – Marill Encounter
  • Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon – 2 Incense Lures
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Poliwrath Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

Something Extraordinary 5/7:

  • Win a Raid – 1,500 Stardust
  • Earn 5 hearts with your buddy – Alomomola Encounter
  • Feed your buddy 3 times – 1 Fast TM
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Keldeo (Ordinary) Encounter, 2 Silver Pinap Berries

  • Win in the GO Battle League – 1,500 Stardust
  • Catch 15 Fighting-type Pokémon – Tympole Encounter
  • Make 3 Great Throws in a row – 2 Super Incubators
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, Medicham Encounter, 2 Silver PinapBerries

Something Extraordinary 7/7:

  • Take 3 snapshots of Keldeo – Tirtouga Encounter
  • Take a snapshot of a Grass-type Pokémon – 2,000 Stardust
  • Take a snapshot of a Steel-type Pokémon – 2,000 Stardust
  • Take a snapshot of a Rock-type Pokémon – 2,000 Stardust
  • Rewards: 2 Rare Candies, 20 Keldeo Candies, Keldeo T-Shirt Avatar Item

Although there is no time limit to complete the research, the Mythic Blade event in Pokémon GO has tons of Fighting-type spawns in the wild. If you can, you should absolutely take advantage of the spawns and blast through the Special Research story.
