Slay the Spire 2’s First Hotfix Addresses Text and Crashing Issues
Quick Slash.
In just a day, Slay the Spire 2 already has the highest concurrent player count of any roguelike on Steam, and the good folks over at Mega Crit have begun putting the early access model to use by addressing some stability and in-game text issues with a hotfix.
Slay the Spire 2 Hotfix 1 Highlights
At release, if your PC’s default language was set to something other than the languages from the supported list, the in-game text would default to a series of Ws. Mega Crit has addressed that in the first hotfix:
Fixed unsupported Steam languages showing all text as W's instead of falling back to English
Crashes caused by fast card play have been addressed, along with issues related to untranslated text in languages with complex plural rules. Players using non-English languages were also experiencing intermittent crashes, which have now been fixed.

Overall, first impressions of Slay the Spire 2 are extremely positive, and the game feels like a true sequel in every way. The animation and art are a massive upgrade over the original; the status effects and incoming attacks are much clearer, and there are tons of new mechanics, ailments, relics, and cards to discover. I’m in love with the overall art direction this time around, and the colors especially look fantastic.
Make sure to unlock all the characters in just a few minutes so you can find a new favorite or stick to one of the returning ones. Slay the Spire 2 already had an impressive 282K peak player count since launch, and player reviews are absolutely stellar.
