Schedule 1 Botanist Not Working

Get those lazy bums back to work.

Growing your empire in Schedule 1 requires many things to go smoothly. After all, it’s the drug business, so any slip-ups should be avoided. Having your Botanist suddenly stop working while growing a batch is good cause for frustration.

So here’s how to fix the Botanist not working bug in Schedule 1.

What is the Botanist Not Working Bug in Schedule 1

The Botanist not working bug makes it so that your Botanist does not properly perform the task that they are assigned. Rather, you’ll find them either standing idly like they’re on their break, or worse, stuck in a loop of performing the same task, like regrowing plants over and over, instead of moving to the next task.

It’s not fully known what causes this bug to occur, but since Botanists charge $200 for a day’s work, it can cost you a lot. Therefore, you’ll want to fix this irksome bug as soon as it pops up. Although the developers have not yet addressed this issue in an update, fortunately, the fixes for both cases of the bug are quite straightforward.

How to Fix the Botanist Not Working Bug in Schedule 1

So far, players have found four potential fixes for the Botanist not working bug, with the third one working in both cases of the bug.

Botanist Standing Idly Fixes

If your Botanist is standing idly in place and not doing their job, there may be something in their way blocking them from moving on to the next task. This could be an item or a piece of furniture, and all you have to do to get your Botanist back to work is move the obstruction out of their path.

Alternatively, your Botanist may be unable to move since they have no tasks to do. In this case, you can always chat with them and ask that they need to work again. This is not a bug but just part of the gameplay.

Botanist Stuck in Loop Fix

Suppose your Botanist is stuck in a loop of performing the same task, such as repeatedly regrowing a plant. In that case, you can fix the issue by removing them and assigning a second worker to pot to try and reset the bugged Botanist. This will ensure that the bug does not hinder the productivity of your workers. A cruel but unique fix we tried was to hit the Botanist with your fist and knock them down. This can sometimes break the work loop they’re stuck in and return them to normal.

Botanist Not Working Properly Best Fix

If the above three methods fail, reloading your save file is the simplest and most reliable way of fixing any worker not functioning properly. At worst, you may lose a bit of progress in your game, but reloading your save file can save you a bunch of money and a lot of trouble.

The final method is the most drastic because you can get the Botanist to function by firing them and hiring a new one. This method is costly because hiring a new Botanist will cost you over $1000 in hiring fees but it’s better than having a Botanist who doesn’t do their job. It’s the last resort but a necessary one for growing your empire.
