Road Dog Borderlands 3 Guide: Location and Loot

If you’re hunting down the elusive Road Dog, then it’s probably because you’re trying to get your hands on the Redline Legendary shotgun. The Redline is a Torgue shotgun that you essentially find in the overworld buried amongst the riff raff and the rubble. The Redline’s special weapon effect is “I live my life a quarter mag at a time” – which gives you an increased fire rate if you charge the weapon up first. This makes it even more deadly than your usual shotgun at close range, and an excellent choice for you to wreak havoc.

Like other Legendary drops, you always have a chance of finding it hanging out in a portable toilet somewhere. However, if you don’t fancy those odds, then you can do the smart thing and farm Road Dog instead since he specifically has a higher chance of dropping this shotgun this week.

Since we’ve established that it’s well worth looking for Road Dog, our tip for finding him would be to make sure that you’re kicking around the Splinterlands on Pandora. Don’t waste your time doing a circuit of the entire map, though; you’re going to want to make sure that you’re dead on the center of the Splinterlands. You’ll know that you’re in the right place if you’ve wandered into a bandit camp, and spotted a pretty chonky boy. Yes, that’s Road Dog, an obvious Overwatch reference to the also-chonky Road Hog.

It’s rare that the Road Dog Borderlands 3 rare mob is going to be alone but we would focus him down because once you’ve netted the kill, that’s when you’ll find out if you’ve been lucky enough for Redline to drop or if you’ll have to go through the motions all over again. If you’re looking for information on some other enemies that will give you more loot this week, check out our guide to the Rare Spawns and their drops.
