It’s December, and the 2022 Gaming Awards is behind us already, yet we are still nowhere closer to knowing the exact release date of the next Assassin’s Creed game in the series titled Mirage. Quite Frankly, the release date is something of a mirage itself. Could this delay be intentional to suit the title? I wonder.

Covered On AC’s Mirage Edition by Prima Games
In September, Prima Games’ Jesse Vitelli covered the initial talks of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and what we can expect, and Ubisoft provided limited information at the time. In his post, he cited who would be the main protagonist in the game, what direction they would be heading regarding gameplay, and what the developers are focusing on more for this entry.
The little details were because Ubisoft was holding its cards close to its chest. They wanted to spill the beans with more juicy bits on the game in their preshow, Ubisoft Forward, which aired a few days after the title’s initial release. You can read more about it here: Does Assassin’s Creed Mirage have a release date?
The preshow was far from disappointing, with Ubisoft releasing loads of content on new games we can expect in the near and not-so-distant future. One of the spectacles showcased was Assassin’s Creed Mirage: the world premiere.
At last, there was significant relief worldwide, and gamers got a glimpse of what to expect from the next installment of the long-lasting series.
AC Fans’ Biggest Disappointment
The biggest disappointment for AC fans came when Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a no-show at The Gaming Awards 2022, despite them previewing loads of excellent titles for the new year. It confirms that previous rumors were off the mark; realistically, we should only expect the new AC title to be released late in 2023.
What’s Causing The Delay In Mirage?
There are plenty of rumors surrounding the reason for delays and the potential drop date itself. The biggest story in the rumor mill is that the release date has already seen two setbacks. The main reason is that Ubisoft’s decision to make it available on old-gen and new-gen consoles is causing some development issues.
Added to the dev issues they are said to be having with some of their new titles, they are also facing in-house problems.
“Insider Gaming has learned that the game is currently scheduled to release in August. Understandably, the date is tentative and subject to change, but the August date was initially set to be much sooner in the year with the game now internally being delayed twice.
“One of the key takeaways mentioned was that Assassin’s Creed Project Red was facing some issues in development. It was reported by TheGamer reported in September that employees were leaving the project because of abuse allegations.”

Other gossip stations suggest that the game will be released next Christmas to allow the developers time to promote the title better at events such as E3 and Gamescom.
So When Can We Expect The Reality Of The Mirage?
So far, August and December 2023 are the dates mentioned more often than others for the game’s release. Some believe that as early as March is still a strong possibility, but missing the chance to promo it at The Gaming Awards could hint at a third or fourth-quarter release date.
Stay tuned to Prima Games for a more in-depth look at what Ubisoft has installed for us in Assassin’s Creed Mirage after they held their first-ever Assassin’s Creed showcase.
