With the Puzzle Fighter mobile app now available for both iOS and Android devices, many players, new and old, have been diving into the game. When you first start playing you only have access to Ryu as a playable character, but you’ll quickly unlock Chun-Li and a few others. This article covers how to unlock characters in Puzzle Fighter mobile so you’re not wasting time, money or gems if you’re not in a hurry.

How to Unlock Characters

The easiest way to unlock characters is to simply buy them from the in-game shop. Occasionally characters will appear in the shop and you can purchase them with gems. While you get gems for doing various activities within the game, you can get a lot of gems very rapidly if you spend real money to pick up one of the gem bundles in the in-game shop. This is the easiest way to unlock characters, but don’t worry, if you’re not keen on spending real money, there are other ways to unlock characters.

For those who aren’t looking to burn through their hard-earned cash, you can simply grind through matches in the game. Every match you win, you’ll be able to take a spin in Honda’s place. Depending on what you land on, you may get lucky and unlock a character. You can also earn chests by playing through the Mission mode, beating AI opponents. The contents of chests are random, but it won’t take long before you unlock another character or two.

It should be noted that there are a limited number of prizes in Honda’s shop, and a limited number of missions you can play through. Once you’ve gone through all of the prizes and all three missions, you’ll have to wait until the next day when both refresh, or spend gems to continue playing missions or unlock Honda’s shop.

As you can see, if you’re in a hurry, spending real money is the fastest and easiest way to unlock new characters in Puzzle Fighter mobile. However, if time isn’t a concern, you can grind through matches and unlock characters for free, but at a much slower pace.
