Pokemon Sword and Shield Bike Upgrades

There are two major upgrades that Pokemon Sword and Shield players can get for their bikes. These bike upgrades consist of a speed boost and the ability to travel over water.

You will be able to acquire the ability to travel over water by progressing through the main story of Pokemon Sword and Shield until you reach Route 9. You will eventually come across a scientist and two members of Team Yell standing near a lake alongside Route 9. Defeat the Team Yell goons, and the scientist will then upgrade your bike to allow it to travel over water.

The next of the bike upgrades will allow you to make your vehicle travel even faster than before. You will need to make your way to the area east of Motosoke. Players will find one of the games’ nurseries located here near the eastern edge of the map. Speak with the person standing next to this nursery that is wearing cycling gear. He will inform you that he can upgrade the speed of your bike for 1,000 watts. These watts can be collected from glowing red husks on the ground in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Once you have 1,000 watts, head back to the trainer, and he will increase the speed of your bike. However, he has additional speed upgrades available for you to acquire. You can have a total of two-speed upgrades by giving the trainer another 3,000 watts.
