Zapdos Best Moveset

Zapdos is an Electric and Flying type Pokemon who has a Max Capture CP of 1,902. If you’re looking for the best moveset to get maximum damage out of Zapdos, you should aim for Charge Beam as the Quick Attack and Thunder as the Charge Attack. Thunder inflicts more damage than Thunderbolt or Zap Cannon, as you can see in our chart below. It is weak to both Ice and Rock, which means those Golem Pokemon you were using against Moltres will definitely come in handy against Zapdos as well. In fact, the Tyranitar you might’ve been using against Moltres will also work quite well against Zapdos. Focus on Rock Throw and Stone Edge with Golem, and Stone Edge and Bite for Tyranitar.

In addition to the Rock type weakness, you can exploit the Ice weakness with Jinx and Piloswine. Use Front Breath and Avalanche for Jinx, and Ice Shard coupled with Avalanche for Piloswine. Dragonite with Dragon Breath and Outrage, or Rhydon with Rock Smash and Stone Edge also work very well against Zapdos, so you have quite a few options to choose from. Let’s take a closer look at Zapdos’ weakness and strengths.

Move Type Power DPS STAB DPS
Charge Beam Electric 8 7.3 9.1
Thunder Electric 100 41.7 52.1
Thunderbolt Electric 80 32.0 37.8
Zap Cannon Electric 140 37.8 47.3
