The Pokemon GO Team Go Rocket Takeover is here and Team Rocket is back to take over Pokemon GO once again, allowing trainers another opportunity to take on Giovanni and reap the rewards. Here’s everything you need to know about the Pokemon GO Team GO Rocket Takeover event in Pokemon GO.
Pokemon GO Team GO Rocket Takeover All Event Details
In this house, we take Team Rocket events in Pokemon GO very seriously, and it’s because there’s another opportunity to take down Giovanni. This time, there’s a new Shadow Legendary to receive and plenty of other worthwhile reasons to participate. It’s time to save the Pokemon world yet again by taking down Team Rocket and freeing the Shadow Pokemon from their grasp.
Event Date and Time
The Pokemon GO Team GO Rocket Takeover event will begin on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:00 AM to Tuesday, October 31, at 8:00 PM local time.
Giovanni’s Shadow Pokemon
This time, Giovanni will have his pesky hands on a Shadow Regigigas. There will be a new Special Research story that follows the latest situation with Giovanni. It will reward you with a Super Rocket Radar, which in turn will allow you to confront the Team Rocket Boss, and ultimately defeat him once again.
You will be able to obtain the above research until December 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM local time.
Shadow Legendary Pokemon Raid Debut
Shadow Lugia will make its debut in Shadow Raids in Pokemon GO during the event! It will be the first time that players can fight and catch Shadow Lugia in Shadow Raids. There will also be a possibility that you will find a shiny version of Shadow Lugia after completing the raid too!
Shadow Lugia will be available in raids for a very limited time. You will be able to find it from October 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM to Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 8:00 PM local time.
Shadow Pokemon
Whenever you defeat a Team Rocket Leader – Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo, or a Rocket Grunt, you will have the opportunity to attempt to catch a Shadow Pokemon after the battle has been won. The following Shadow Pokemon will be able to be potentially found during the event.

Event Bonuses
The following event bonuses will be active for the duration of the event.
- Team Rocket will have more frequent appearances in both balloons and at PokeStops.
- Using a Charged TM during the event will allow a Shadow Pokemon to forget the move Frustration.
Field Research Tasks
During the event, spinning PokeStops will provide trainers with Field Research Tasks that when completed will offer Mysterious Component as a reward.
