Pokemon GO January 2024 Community Day Features Rowlet: Event Date and Time, Special Research, and More

The first Community Day of 2024 is going to be a real hoot.

It’s everyone’s favorite rotund bird’s time to shine with the January 2024 Community Day in Pokemon GO! Rowlet was introduced in Generation VII and soon became a fan favorite due to its appearance and unusual typing. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of Rowlet’s Community Day.

Pokemon GO Rowlet Community Day Event Details

January’s Pokemon GO Community Day is going to be one for the books as it features the Alolan Grass starter, Rowlet. This adorable owl pal is a real hoot, and you won’t want to miss out on your opportunity to catch as many as possible.

Event Date and Time

The Pokemon GO January 2024 Community Day which features Rowlet will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.

Yep, you guessed it! The featured Pokemon for January’s Community Day is Rowlet. Rowlet evolves into Dartrix with 25 Rowlet Candy, and then Decidueye with 100 Rowlet Candy. And, of course, you will be able to encounter shiny Rowlet too!

When evolving a Dartrix into a Decidueye during the event period, and up to five hours directly following the event, you can get a Decidueye that will learn the Charged Attack, Frenzy Plant.

Frenzy Plant Information

  • Trainer Battles: 100 power
  • Gyms and raids: 100 power

Niantic has also changed the move pool for Decidueye and will allow it to learn the Ghost-type Charged Attack, Spirit Shackle. This change will go live on Community Day and be permanent.

Spirit Shackle Information

  • Trainer Battles: 50 power, plus potentially decreasing an opponent’s Defense by one
  • Gyms and raids: 70 power

Rowlet Community Day Special Research Story

The Rowlet Community Day Special Research Story will cost $1 USD or the equivalent in your local currency. As per previous Community Day Special Research Stories, you will complete set tasks that will include rewards such as additional opportunities to encounter Rowlet.

Event Bonuses

The following Event Bonuses will be live for the duration of January’s Rowlet Community Day.

  • Trainers will receive 2x XP for catching Pokemon.
  • Trainers will receive 3x Stardust when catching Pokemon.
  • Trainers level 31 and over will have a 2x chance of obtaining XL Candy when catching a Pokemon.
  • Lure modules will have an extended duration of three hours.
  • Incense will have an extended duration of three hours.
  • Trainers will use 50% less Stardust when trading Pokemon.
  • Trainers can take advantage of an extra Special Trade for the day.
  • Trainers will encounter Rowlet whilst taking Snapshots.

Post Community Day Raids

Rowlet Community Day Raids will begin on completion of the event on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM local time. Defeating a Dartrix raid will result in additional Rowlet spawning around the Gym the Raid was defeated at for thirty minutes.

Tip:

These Pokemon GO Raids can only be completed in person using either regular Raid Passes or Premium Raid Passes. You will not be able to use a Remote Raid Pass to participate.

Community Day Field Research

Be sure to spin as many PokeStop’s as possible during the Rowlet Community Day as there will be a plethora of Community Day specific Field Research Tasks to complete. Completing these will reward trainers with the following:

  • Rowlet encounters
  • Ultra Balls
  • Stardust, and more

PokeStop Showcases

For the duration of January’s Rowlet Community Day, trainers can find PokeStop Showcases at certain PokeStops, where trainers can enter Rowlet. May the best bird win.

Stickers

Trainers will be able to receive some adorable Rowlet Community Day 2024-themed stickers via the following means:

  • Opening Gifts
  • Spinning PokeStops
  • Buying them from the in-game shop

Event Bundles

Trainers will be able to purchase Community Day-specific Event Bundles to prepare themself for the event.

Web Store Bundle

Trainers can purchase an Ultra Community Day Box from the Pokemon GO Web Store for $9.99. This Box includes the following items.

  • 120 Ultra Balls
  • 15 Silver Pinaps
  • 6 Incubators
  • 1 Incense

In-Game Event Bundles

Trainers will also be able to purchase two different event bundles from the in-game shop.

The 1,350 PokeCoins Event Bundle will include the following:

  • 50 Ultra Balls
  • 5 Super Incubators
  • 1 Elite Charged TM
  • 5 Lucky Eggs

The 480 PokeCoins Event Bundle will include the following:

  • 30 Ultra Balls
  • 1 Incense
  • 3 Super Incubators
  • 1 Lure Module
