Pokemon Go Clamperl Evolutions Guide: How to Get Huntail and Gorebyss

Almost four years to the day, Clamperl and its evolved forms made their debut in Pokemon GO. But for a long time, the process of actually obtain those slippery water serpents has been elusive. Here’s how to evolve your Clamperl into Huntail and Gorebyss in Pokemon GO.

The sleepy little clam Pokemon, Clamperl, is a Pokemon with potential. The potential to become two ridiculously serpentine Water Pokemon. These evolutions are Huntail and Gorebyss, two Pokemon that are likely missing from your Pokedex unless you were able to take full advantage of the Mythical Wishes boosted spawn rates earlier this month.

If you’re trying to only get one or the other, I’m afraid I have unfortunate news. There is no way to control which of the two eel-like Pokemon your Clamperl will evolve into. Like Wurmple’s evolution, it’s completely random.

You can only give your Clamperl 50 Clamperl Candies and hope that it evolves into your preferred evolution.

But out of the two evolutions, one is simply better: Gorebyss. This pastel-pink Pokemon has a high base Attack than Huntail while having the same Defense and Stamina Points. It’s also capable of using Psychic moves. Huntail, on the other hand, balances itself out with a handful of Dark attacks, but most notably Ice Beam, which makes it a little better in PvP. But this isn’t enough to beat out Gorebyss in a battle.
