Night Hawkin Borderlands 3 Drop Guide: Stranger Things Easter Egg

If things weren’t already strange enough in Borderlands 3 with the Vaults and their various cursed beasts, well, you can make things even stranger (we’re really sorry for the pun). There’s more than one Stranger Things Easter egg in the game – remember the Demoskaggon – but this time we’re talking a Dahl submachine gun which swaps between two types of element damage.

Yes, you heard that right: the Night Hawkin will swap between the two elements of cryo (day) and incendiary (night) based on the time of the day. This special effect is called “Stranger than things” and it also means that eat hit of the weapon makes its elemental effect chance increase. If the weapon spawns with a particular element affixed to it, then instead of swapping elements depending on the time of day it will fire either 1 or 3 bullets per shot.

For those who are wanting to get their mitts on this cool weapon, we’ve got some good and bad news. Good news: there aren’t really any prerequisites to getting it, so you don’t have to drag yourself through a bunch of quests and fight a dude who punches really hard to pick it up. However, the bad news is that you can only get it from looting, well, one of the million possible loot sources in the game. Yeah, it’s a random drop from anything ranging from a dead skag to a tiny chest sitting in the middle of nowhere on a rock. If you want this weapon, you’re going to have to work hard to get it by either farming the easiest boss you can think of, or by just exploring and praying. There’s no hard and fast rule, so you’re going to have to get lucky.

Now that you’ve got our Night Hawkin Borderlands 3 drop guide, hopefully you’re a little clearer on what needs to be done to get this gun. Need a hand with anything else on your Vault Hunter travels? We have a guide on how to get the Rebel Yell assault rifle too.
