Yong Yea took on the role of Kazuma Kiryu in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and since then, he’s been the English voice of the character. Here is a first look at his performance in Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut.

Yong Yea is joined by Matthew Mercer, who voices Goro Majima, as well as the legendary David Hayter, who voices Osamu Kashiwagi.

This is a fairly strong ensemble, and it’s nice to see the critically acclaimed title get some love again for its definitive re-release.

If the original Japanese voiceover was the only thing holding you back, the Director’s Cut is your chance to experience the modern classic in a full English voiceover. Along with the voiceover, the Director’s Cut includes the following new features:

  • 20 minutes of new cutscenes
  • French, Italian, German, and Spanish text
  • Red Light Raid mode: A multiplayer mode where players team up to fight against hordes of enemies. There are over 60 characters to choose from in this mode.

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Release Date

Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is coming to the Nintendo Switch on June 5, 2025, and is now available to pre-order on the eShop. SEGA has also released a new trailer for the Director’s Cut edition featuring the theme song “Bubble” by Shōnan no Kaze.

I’m glad that even more players will get to experience the incredible entry in the Yakuza series, and hopefully become fans of the franchise. All the footage shown so far for the Nintendo Switch 2 looks fantastic, and I hope that the additional content makes its way to other consoles and PC as well.
