Microsoft is giving in to the incessant whining that so many of us have been taking part in and are finally releasing Phantasy Star Online 2. To say that this is huge news is an understatement. The games found a cult following back on Dreamcast and Gamecube, but have faded out of the west ever since.

The trailer showed off some of the incredible things that we will get to do including things like gigantic boats, huge terrifying dragons, and the classic beam weapons that fans know and love. There was even a gigantic multi-headed, multi-armed boss fight shown off that looked a lot like a raid. Thanks to the gameplay of Phantasy Star online, it is a lot more action orientated than many other MMORPGS, so you can expect to have to master timings instead of just cooldown timers.

The game is from the likes of Sega and has you creating your own character to take on the world with, it is a pretty much infinite game thanks to the constant updates and the sheer difficulty of some of the fights. You then get to choose a class and mess around with all kinds of accessories and fashion options too, it is a Japanese game after all. We will be seeing it in the west next year and it will probably consume a few people, so make sure you’re ready.
