New Moonkin Form Customizations Are on the Way in WoW’s 10.2 Update

There's no BOOM in OOM

In WoW’s upcoming 10.2 content patch, “Guardians of the Dream,” players will be headed into the Emerald Dream. The zone has been proselytized since the early days of WoW, and we’re finally getting a chance to explore (a portion of) it. Needless to say, it’s a druid-heavy zone. So it follows that druids are receiving a bit of TLC in 10.2, starting with some neato new Moonkin (read: Boomkin) customizations.

Boomkin Customizations Coming in Patch 10.2

Though the feature has made its way to the PTR (Public Test Realm), it isn’t yet fully usable. Luckily, our friends over at Wowhead have a comprehensive showing of the customizations making their way to the game. Below are a few examples (via Wowhead):

The options include customizations to the following categories:

  • Decorations
  • Whiskers
  • Feather Color
  • Horn & Beak Color
  • Horns
  • Decoration Color
  • Effects Style
  • Effects Color
  • Eyebrows
  • Feathers
  • Beak

That’s more customization than freshly created characters get! But if you wanted to be anything other than a big fluffy owl, I’m sorry to say you’re out of luck. However, if you aren’t super invested in a specific look, you can use the Glyph of the Lunar Chameleon to randomize your Moonkin form every time you shapeshift.

This feature isn’t guaranteed to drop alongside patch 10.2, but if it doesn’t, it probably won’t be long after before it arrives. It’s likely to be as simple as visiting a barbershop in the game to customize your fluffy owlbear (just like you would with, say, Cat form), and time will tell if there are other, more race-appropriate options. Blizzard has been doing a bang-up job of providing players with customization options to suit their tastes. Now, if only they could give my poor Dark Iron Dwarf a few new beards..
