There’s no question that all of Mortal Kombat 11’s characters are exceptionally skilled when it comes to dismembering, disemboweling or decapitating their enemies. However, there will always be winners and losers it the world of fighting games, and that means it’s time for a tier list. We’re still in the very early days of Mortal Kombat 11’s competitive life, so it’s worth taking any tier lists with a pinch of salt until some tournament results come in. For now, we’ve based this list on the initial impressions players have had with the game’s cast, but expect the positions to shift notably in the coming weeks as professional players get to grips with the game.
In case you haven’t seen a tier list before, they rank the characters in a fighting game based on their potential against the rest of the cast and tournament results with them. The idea being that if two equally skilled players fought, the higher tier character should win most of the time. The best characters fill the upper tiers, while the worst fall to the bottom. With that out of the way, let’s get stuck in:
- S Tier – Erron Black, Scorpion, Raiden
- A Tier – Frost, Kabal, Geras, Kollector, Kung Lao, Noob Saibot, Shao Kahn
- B Tier – Cetrion, Johnny Cage, Kano, Liu Kang, Sub-Zero
- C Tier – D’Vorah, Jacqui Briggs, Kotal Kahn, Sonya Blade
- D Tier – Baraka, Jade, Jax, Kitana, Skarlet
- E Tier – Cassie Cage
As of right now, the best characters in Mortal Kombat 11 appear to be Erron Black, Scorpion and Shao Kahn. Heavy damage dealers are doing well in the early stages of the game as they don’t need a lot of set up to lay into their enemies. The tiers above are our current impressions with the game, but as Mortal Kombat 11 has just released, we’ll adjust this list as we get more experience with the game and professional players start to give their opinions. We’ll also keep an eye on any balance changes following updates to see if our Mortal Kombat 11 tier list changes.
