Marvel Rivals PS5 and PS5 Pro Modes, Features, and Exclusive Skins Detailed

Thank Galactus for the 120 FPS mode!

Marvel Rivals finally has a release date for PC and current-generation consoles and it’s built on Unreal Engine 5. It’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series S|X, and the developers have confirmed that Marvel Rivals will launch with a PS5 Pro patch that boosts the resolution further using PSSR. Additionally, PlayStation players will gain access to exclusive skins, and controller features for the DualSense.

Marvel Rivals PS5 and PS5 Pro Modes

Marvel Rivals maintains 60 FPS whether you’re playing on the PS5 or the PS5 Pro. Here is what we know about the resolution, modes, and lighting technologies available on both models:

Base PS5PS5 Pro
Default Mode: 60 FPS at 1440pPro Mode: 60 FPS at 4K (PSSR)
High Frame Rate Mode: 120 FPS – Resolution UnknownHigh Frame Rate Mode: 120 FPS – Resolution Unknown

Even at the potential resolution cost, adding a 120 FPS mode is an excellent decision because it greatly improves the responsiveness of any competitive title while reducing input latency. This will obviously require an output that supports the higher refresh rate, but it’s a great addition nonetheless.

We just hope that the internal resolution isn’t too low to achieve this frame rate. PSSR can do a good job at image reconstruction when the internal resolution isn’t too low. 120 FPS modes are becoming fairly common on current-generation consoles thanks to VRR-supported displays and it’s nice to see more competitive titles making good use of it.

Marvel Rivals DualSense Features

Marvel Rivals has support for both adaptive triggers and haptic feedback for DualSense controllers. According to NetEase players will feel the changes in trigger tension and dynamic vibration when different heroes release skills. For instance, the gunfire of Punisher’s machine gun, the tension of Hawkeye’s bowstring, and the punches of The Hulk.

PlayStation Plus Bonus

Players with an active PlayStation Plus subscription will receive a Venom-inspired cosmetics pack for Peni Parker. This includes the following content:

  • VEN#M suit
  • Exclusive name card, spray, and MVP animation
  • Season pass tokens

Finally, PlayStation 5 players will also receive the Scarlet Spider skin for Spider-Man. You don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription for this costume.

Marvel Rivals left a fairly positive impression during its betas, and we’re hopeful that NetEase continue to maintain the momentum, listen to player feedback, and provide new content that adds to the longevity of the title. PC players can now preload Marvel Rivals ahead of its release date.
