The depth chart in Madden NFL 25 is one of the most visited places in the game for expert players. Players who are using a new team for the first time want to see who their best players are and where they excel. If you are constantly using the same team, be sure to save your best lineup and have it automatically load into the game! If the team you chose has great WRs but you like to run the ball, you may need to adjust your lineup or game plan.
5 START AT QB
ONLY ONE PLAYER HANDLES THE BALL EVERY SNAP, SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING YOUR BEST OPTION!
While searching for a new team to play with, you should always look to the QB position. If you head into the Roster menu, you can sort by any category and position to give yourself a look at how every play stacks up! Some teams have multiple QBs who can get the job done depending on how you want to play. If you have a veteran pocket passer but a scrambling rookie, you can work to get both some snaps. With all the different types of game plans, you need to have a QB who will set your team up for success, so make sure to focus on it!
4 CHECK YOUR SPECIAL TEAMS
TRY LOWER-RATED PLAYERS WHEN YOU GET A BIG LEAD; THEY MAY BE SPECIAL!
Setting your offense and defense but skipping over special teams is a common mistake that even veteran gamers make. Always be sure to check your kicker’s Kick Power rating and just how fast your returner is. If you overlook a better player on the bench, you may be costing your team points later in the game. For a great returner, look at attributes like Speed (SPD), Agility (AGI), and Acceleration (ACC)!
3 DEFENSIVE VERSATILITY
SOME OUTSIDE LINEBACKERS (OLBS) MAY RECEIVE A RATINGS BOOST WHEN GOING DOWN TO PLAY DEFENSIVE END!
Great coaches will find a way to line up their best 11 players on the field no matter what position they are. If you have three amazing safeties, try moving one down to cornerback (CB) to get him on the field. Take a look at what positions are utilized with your main defensive strategy, and then line up your best guys in those positions. When trying to stop a great running opponent, we often put our stronger backup defensive tackles (DTs) in at the defensive end (DE) position. This gives us some extra weight on the field to support our linebackers. Defensive players are capable of shifting around, so it’s your job to get them into position to make plays!
2 BUILD YOUR GAME PLAN
IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY GREAT BACKS, TRY MOVING ONE WITH A HIGH CATCH RATING TO WIDE RECEIVER!
We talked about finding a great playbook already, but make sure that it fits with your team. The key is to make sure that your personnel matches up when you switch from one formation to another. It is okay for a TE to line up at wide receiver (WR), but he won’t be able to move down to HB. If you’re going to use a run-heavy game plan, make sure your fullback (FB) doesn’t line up elsewhere if you audible to a pass. Where you set up each player in the depth chart determines where he lines up in every formation. You may want your fastest WR in the slot, rather than lining up at the number one position in the depth chart, depending on how you have set up your attack!
1 HIDDEN GEMS
A VALUABLE RATING FOR THE WR/TE POSITION IS CATCH IN TRAFFIC (CIT), WHICH HELPS THE RECEIVER HANG ONTO THE BALL IN CONGESTED AREAS.
The Overall rating is a great snapshot of how good a player is, but a true coach will get the most out of his lower-rated players, too. If you have a lower-rated player who is only good at carrying the ball, put him in at the end of the game to protect the ball. If your QB has poor accuracy, look to help him out by running screen passes to the HB and WR. You only have so much talent on the roster, so take a minute to run through your lineup and really dig so you can maximize it. Finding a great sleeper player on your bench and turning him into a star is one of the best feelings in Madden NFL 25!
