Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the most well-received films of 2015. While the long-gestating Mad Max game didn’t make it out in time for the theatrical film release, it did arrive day and date with the blu-ray release of the film. Unfortunately, that was also the same release date of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which had a significant impact on game sales. Mad Max didn’t sell poorly that we know of, but that’s some steep competition to go up against.
With the holiday sales, it seems likely that at least a few people have picked up Mad Max recently, so we thought it was time to revisit some of tips that should help you get started with your new game.
Collect Scrap – Scrap is essentially the money of Mad Max, so it’s important to collect as much scrap as you can early in the game. You can even destroy enemy vehicles to collect the scrap they leave behind.
Extra Fuel – Keep an extra fuel tank in the back of the Magnum Opus (your car) in case you need to use it for an explosion to destroy a door, or to fill up another car’s fuel tank.
Drive Safely – The Magnum Opus has a health gauge. If you take a bad jump or hit a few big bumps while driving too fast, you’ll damage the vehicle. If it gets too damaged you’ll have to jump out while it’s being repaired.
Conserve Ammunition – Ammo is difficult to come by in Mad Max, so Don’t waste it unless you absolutely need to in order to survive. Taking out snipers is a good use of ammo once you have the long shot gun.
Upgrades – When you upgrade your abilities by interacting with Griffa, you have to spend all of your points. Make sure you’re ready to spend them all before you interact with Griffa or you’ll end up wasting them on abilities you don’t need.
