Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel – Classes Tier List

Know your class before diving into the raid!

In Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, the difficulty curve increases as you face larger hordes the longer you survive in each raid. The ultimate objective is to summon and defeat the giant by completing a series of objectives. However, not all classes are created equal—some offer significantly more powerful abilities and playstyles, making it easier to reach the endgame efficiently. That is why this tier list will provide insights into the best classes in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel.

Revenant

If you are looking for the best class to dominate any difficulty mode in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel, look no further than the Revenant. In one word, we summed up this class as a “Controller” in combat.

With powerful skills like Necrotic Rain, Grappling Web, and Focus Fire, the Revenant excels at controlling smaller hordes and annihilating elite enemies with ease.

One standout ability, Grappling Web, applies a 100% slow effect, which completely disrupts incoming hordes’ formations. This skill not only creates valuable breathing room but also gives you a tactical edge to either eliminate immobilized enemies or reposition to take on another group from a better angle.

Once you level up and unlock Evolved Necrotic Rain or Evolved Focus Fire (at level 4), the Revenant becomes unstoppable! Necrotic Rain calls arrows down from the sky in a relentless barrage, while Focus Fire devastates enemies on the ground. With both skills fully evolved, you will cut through hordes effortlessly, making even the most challenging waves feel trivial.

The Revenant’s Haunting Wolf companion adds another layer of crowd control, and this ability can be enhanced with passives. For example, summoning five wolves can further enhance area control, and another passive gives you a healing wolf. These passives amplify the Revenant’s utility, making it an even more powerful class.

Overall, the Revenant is an excellent choice, especially on higher difficulties like Hard or Insane. Switching to this class after trying others is a game-changer—I was genuinely amazed at how much easier the game became once I started playing as a Revenant.

Berserker

The Berserker is the champion of close-quarters combat with its vicious and powerful axe swings. There is no better class to survive the hordes head-on than with the Berserker. If we have to give you a one-word summary about this class, it will be “Survivor”.

The best part of playing Berserker is this class’s health regeneration factor. By default, the Berserker has +100 more HP than the rest of the classes due to its class ability called “Survivor”. This feature also gives Berserkers the ability to regenerate 1HP per second, making it last longer in the raid.

On top of that, every time you trigger Rage Mode—which activates through consistent attacks—the Berserker gains a 20% boost to overall damage and an impressive 3 HP per second health regeneration. Together, these abilities solidify the Berserker’s reputation as one of the hardest classes to kill in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel.

Additionally, unlocking the Deeper Cuts passive at its highest level boosts your overall attack damage by a whopping 35%. Meanwhile, maxing out the Vessel of Pain passive reduces incoming damage by 15%, further reinforcing the class’s resilience.

If you manage to unlock evolved skills like Cutting Edge and Axe Throw, you’ll find yourself carving through hordes with unstoppable efficiency. Additionally, while the Totem of Suffering must be unlocked through the Skill Shop before it appears in your active skill pool, it’s easily one of the best survival abilities in the game.

This skill summons 3-4 totems within a radius, which deal continuous, devastating damage to any enemies that dare enter.

Finally, the ultimate upgrade, True Berserker, turns the class into an unstoppable force. By investing 6 skill points, you’ll extend your Rage Mode duration by a massive 200%, effectively doubling it. Combine this upgrade with the rest of the Berserker’s skills, and you’ll cut through hordes with unmatched power and fury.

Seeress

Unlike the Berserker and Revenant, which benefit from permanent passive skills that enhance damage reduction, attack speed, and movement speed, the Seeress lacks these boosts.

That does not mean the Seeress is a weak class—it is just that she has a different purpose and playstyle a player should look for while playing her. Hence, we ranked her below Berserker in our Jotunnslayer tier list.

While this class is not as durable or aggressive as the Berserker or Revenant, Seeress shines with her unique playstyle focused on Eldritch Wards and powerful AoE class abilities.

To maximize the potential of Seeress, your first priority should be upgrading Ward Restoration with all five permanent passive upgrades. This reduces the cooldown of Eldritch Wards by 35%, making them available much more frequently.

Pair this with the Serpent’s Skin ability, unlocked after spending six skill points, which grants two additional Eldritch Wards. With these upgrades, you’ll have a stronger defensive toolkit, allowing you to better manage incoming attacks while maintaining higher ward uptime.

Seeress is a particularly valuable class when you are looking to farm gold efficiently in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel. Her Draining Touch passive upgrades are game-changers for this purpose. Once fully upgraded, these provide a 22% chance to earn extra gold during raids. This makes the Seeress the best choice for players who want to collect more gold for skill points per raid.

The Seeress struggles on her own in terms of survivability, especially on higher difficulties like Insane. Without the durability of other classes, she requires careful play and strategic use of her abilities to stay alive. However, if your goal is to amass gold quickly, now you know which class to go for in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel.

B-Tier

Flame Sister

On paper, the Flame Sister sounds like an exciting class in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel. With powerful fire-casting spells that deal impressive AoE and direct damage, plus up to five decoys that attack enemies, she seems like a strong contender. Unfortunately, the reality falls short, especially when you play as a Flame Sister on Hard and Insane difficulties.

The class ability, Blazing Soul Burn Chance, grants 26 damage and 20 HP when triggered, which sounds great at first. The problem, however, lies in how rarely it activates. Even with the Scorching Heat permanent passive fully upgraded, the trigger chance only reaches a maximum of 22%, which feels underwhelming during the raid.

The Flame Sister becomes more effective once you unlock the Chain Reaction spell, but this requires six skill points, meaning you will need to grind a significant amount of gold before accessing her best abilities.

If you manage to get her skills like Fire Dart and Sisterhood Incarnate to reach Evolve level, the Flame Sister becomes a formidable powerhouse. But compared to the Seeress, who benefits from the Divination passive (granting a 15 / 30% boost in experience gain for faster skill upgrades during raids), the Flame Sister lacks similar tools to help her scale quickly during the raid.

Despite these shortcomings, we believe the Flame Sister class has excellent potential in Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel. With some tweaks to damage scaling or balancing in future updates, she could easily become a more viable option in the game, and can rank higher in our Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel tier list.

That said, the Flame Sister can still be a fun class to play if you enjoy her fiery skill set. Just keep your expectations in check—especially with multiple modifiers active at higher difficulties. In those scenarios, survival will be a serious challenge, and chances are you will find yourself overwhelmed!
