Is Rise of the Ronin On PlayStation 4? – Answered

Can you play this on previous generation hardware?

While we’ve been in the current generation for a fair number of years now, it seems that high-profile releases are still coming out on PlayStation 4 alongside PlayStation 5. Is Rise of the Ronin available on this console, too?

Can You Play Rise of the Ronin on PlayStation 4?

Much like PC and Xbox Players, you’ll need to get your hands on a PlayStation 5 if you’re hoping to jump into this Samurai showdown. Rise of the Ronin is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and while it’s unclear if this is a timed exclusive for other current generation consoles and PCs, it doesn’t appear as if there is a PlayStation 4 port coming down the line anytime soon.

There have been other games that were “next-gen” only, such as the PlayStation 5 launch title Godfall that eventually made its way to previous generation consoles, but it doesn’t appear that Rise of the Ronin is going to be following in their footsteps anytime soon. Team Ninja is using the PlayStation 5 for all it’s worth with this particular title, and it doesn’t seem that the PS4 would be able to handle its massive open world without taking off like a jet engine.

While the PlayStation 4 is still a good console in today’s day and age, it’s been over three years since the PlayStation 5 hit the market — and about a year and a half since they’ve been steadily available. It seems if you’re hoping to get your toes wet with Rise of the Ronin, you’re going to need to get your hands on the console. At least you can play with friends if you’re looking for even more reasons to finally invest in Sony’s newest console.
