Rise of the Ronin is looking to bring some sweet samurai action to the PlayStation 5, but fans on other machines may be wondering when it will be their turn to play. Is this epic making its way to PC or Xbox, or is it locked to PlayStation indefinitely?
Can You Play Rise of the Ronin on Xbox or PC?
As of the time of this writing, there are no details regarding an eventual port to any other console or machine beyond the PlayStation 5. However, with the PlayStation/PC relationship steadily getting better after successes like Helldivers 2, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this title make its way to PC in the future. Nioh, for example, was a PlayStation console exclusive that was eventually released on PC — but Xbox fans have yet to get a taste of the Team Ninja action spectacle.
It appears unlikely that an Xbox port is in the works for this title either, which is a shame for those who are primarily playing on that console. There are other Team Ninja games on the console family — Wo-Long: Fallen Dynasty immediately comes to mind, alongside Dead or Alive — but it appears that Sony may have paid for the exclusive rights to this particular title. There is currently no word if this is a timed exclusive or a full exclusive, meaning that we may eventually see a version of Rise of the Ronin make its way to the Xbox family of consoles.
No matter if you’re a stickler for a game that will repeatedly kick your butt, or you want something with selectable difficulties, Rise of the Ronin is shaping up to be a beautiful journey through the Edo period of Japanese history.
