This mission isn’t for the light-hearted, so make sure you have a fire team of three players before you take this on. It’s best to have a steady group that you play with, but if you don’t enjoy such a luxury, make your way to a random Tower and send invites and messages until you have a full team. The Destiny community is always willing to help if you take the time to look and ask nicely.

How to Get the Black Spindle in Destiny

At the moment, the only way we can 100 percent confirm to unlock the Black Spindle is to load into the Daily Heroic Mission for September 23, 2015. You’ll see the story mission, Lost to Light, which is the mission you want to be on. Get up to the point where you need to run away during the mission, then start placing Relics in the doors so you can open them. With the help of your fire team, use one Relic to open the first door and two Relics to open the second. Once that’s done, it’s time to take a detour.

Follow the same route as the Shadow Thief Strike featured in the House of Wolves expansion. This will have you arrive at Dusk Warren where you can teleport upward and prepare to fight Taken enemies as you make your way to the Strike path. You’ll end up in the same place where you fought Taniks, but this time it’s full of Taken enemies and Driviks, the Chosen. For the purpose of the mission, this is the final boss battle. Complete the mission successfully and you’ll obtain the Black Spindle Exotic Sniper Rifle.

The big catch is that we don’t know what the future holds. We discovered the weapon today, so it may not be available tomorrow. Obviously there’s likely to be some way to obtain the weapon, but at this point we can’t be 100 percent sure about that. We know it unlocks via the Daily Heroic Story, but we can’t test if it will also unlock if you load Lost to Light with a Heroic modifier of 240 Light. Presumably you can, but unfortunately there’s no way to properly test this at the moment.

Beyond the 310 Attack value, there’s a bit more you should expect from the new weapon. It takes some inspiration from the Black Hammer and comes with the White Nail, Mulligan and Perfect Balance perks. Compared to the other weapons available in Destiny, this makes it one of the best Sniper Rifles for the time being.
