There really isn’t anything quite as satisfying as getting your hands on an Exotic weapon in Destiny, and owners of the PS3 and PS4 now have an opportunity at one that is exclusive to their platforms – The 4th Horseman.
While Destiny: The Dark Below is available to all consoles, The 4th Horseman — as well as The Undying Mind Strike — is exclusive to those who own the DLC on the PlayStation platforms. Still, it’s called an Exotic for a reason, and that means that there is a very good chance that some players will never get to experience this weapon first-hand.
Where can I find The 4th Horseman?
That’s a great question, and unfortunately there isn’t 100 percent accurate answer. What we do know is that YouTube personality, Piotr Czechowski, claims to have found it in a chest while playing Crota’s End, a new Raid that came with The Dark Below DLC. Other than that, however, you’ll find this four-barrel, five shot, Arc damage dealing, full auto shotgun in the same place you find every other Exotic in the game… by grinding through every Crucible, Raid and Strike you can find in search of those Exotic Engrams.
What upgrades can be unlocked for The 4th Horseman
This weapon comes with many of the standard upgrades that you’d expect from a shotgun, but we’ll go ahead and break it down for you anyway.
- CQB Ballistics: Greatly reduced recoil. Significant penalty to range.
- Accurized Ballistics: More range and impact. Increased recoil.
- Field Choke: More range and impact. Increased recoil.
- Final Round: The last round in the magazine deals bonus damage.
- Upgrade Damage: Increases Attack Power, allowing this weapon to cause more damage.
- Fitted Stock: Increases weapons stability.
- Hand Loaded: This weapon is effective at an extended range.
- Speed Reload: Reload this weapon quickly.
- Return to Sender: Kills with this weapon grant bonus ammo, directly to the magazine.
- Upgrade Damage: Increases Attack Power, allowing this weapon to cause more damage.
- Upgrade Damage: Increases Attack Power, allowing this weapon to cause more damage.
- Upgrade Damage: Same as above.
- Upgrade Damage: Same as above.
For those who aren’t entirely sure how to read that list. The solid bullet points are the main upgrade categories, and the hollow bullet points are subcategories. For example, you could choose between either CQB Ballistics, Accurized Ballistics, or Field Choke, but you can’t simultaneously use more than one of the three. Additionally, you could simultaneously use Final Round, Upgrade Damage, and Fitted Stock since they all fall under different categories. We hope that makes sense.
I got the shotgun from an Exotic Engram… now what?
Time to wreck faces… that’s what.
Seriously though, as with just about any shotgun, you’re going to want to utilize this weapon in close quarter combat situations, preferably against large groups of enemies. It also might be wise to go with the Final Round, Speed Reload, and Return to Sender upgrades, since each of them will help you to either cause more damage, reload faster, or extend the life of your current magazine. Those choices will help you stay alive and in the fight when facing hoards of adversaries.
See you at the Tower, Guardian.
