How to Use Bitcoin Farms Effectively in Escape from Tarkov

To sell or not to sell GPUs.

The Bitcoin Farm is the most sought-after hideout upgrade in Escape from Tarkov by a mile. It gives players a way to get passive income without playing the game. However, the price is extremely steep, and you’ll need to have it run as efficiently as possible. Otherwise, you are better off selling the items for Roubles instead of investing in this feature. Here’s how to use Bitcoin Farms effectively in Escape from Tarkov.

Before setting up your farm, you still need to construct and unlock the Bitcoin Farm in your hideout. It has three different levels, which need increasingly difficult items to find per level.

LevelRequirementsGPU Slots
15 T-Shaped plug
1 VPX Flash Storage Module
10 Power cord
10 Power Supply Unit
15 CPU Fan
Level 2 Intelligence Center
10 GPU Slots
215 CPU Fan,
10 Power Supply Unit
15 Printed Circuit Board
5 Phase Control Relay
2 Military Power Filter
Level 3 Generator
25 GPU Slots
325 CPU Fan
15 Silicone Tubes
10 Electric Motors
10 Pressure Gauge,
1 6-STEN-140-M Military Battery,
Level 1 Solar Power
Level 3 Water Collector
50 GPU Slots

Each level doesn’t directly increase your Bitcoin farming speed, but it increases the number of GPU slots available, which only increases your Bitcoin farming speed if you put enough GPUs inside.

With each wipe, players always try to calculate whether the Bitcoin Farm is worth it. The prices of all these items vary due to supply and demand, so each wipe will be different. However, each of these hideout items needed for the Bitcoin Farm has a direct correlation to the price of Bitcoins and Graphics Cards.

If Bitcoins sell even close to a million Roubles each, you can expect these Graphics Cards to go above a million Roubles in mid to late wipes. Each of the hideout items needed for the Bitcoin Farm will also steadily climb up, so it becomes less and less attractive to set up the Bitcoin Farm.

To maximize efficiency, you want to have the maximum number of GPUs available at your current Bitcoin Farm at all times. This is because the power provided by your Generator isn’t free. There’s an upkeep cost for Metal Fuel Tanks to keep your Generator running and producing power.

Every single fuel resource will power your hideout for 12 minutes and 38 seconds, so a Metal Fuel Tank of 100/100 can power your hideout for roughly 21-22 hours.

Are Bitcoin Farms Worth it in Escape from Tarkov?

To determine whether it is worth it, you need to know Bitcoin’s production rates, which are the only fixed variable here.

Your Bitcoin Farm produces at the rate of one Bitcoin every 40 hours if there is only one Graphics Card installed. As you put more Graphics Cards, you produce Bitcoins much faster, but not at the same rate as putting that first Graphics Card. To put it into perspective, you will make one Bitcoin every 13 hours if you have 50 Graphics Cards installed.

If you have 25 Graphics Cards installed, it is around 20 hours per Bitcoin. If you put this on a graph, the Graphics Card loses some efficiency when you put more inside the farm.

Since Graphics Cards are expensive, the only way to make them “efficient” is by playing the game. Regardless if you farm these GPUs manually, you can still profit big by just selling them in the flea market. If you don’t plan on playing the game for a long time (upwards of 5 months), it is best to sell your Graphics Cards individually because they should cost millions of Roubles each by mid or late wipe.

If you want to play for a long time but don’t have time to manage your hideout once every two to three days, you should also sell your GPUs individually and avoid constructing the Bitcoin Farm.

The only way the Bitcoin Farm is worth it is if you play constantly for three to four months, during which time the Bitcoins can pay off the GPU’s worth and hideout costs. In short, you will feel forced to play even if you don’t feel like playing Tarkov for the day.

This has been the state of Bitcoin Farms for a long time because the prices of GPUs are directly correlated to the Bitcoin price. It will always be worth it if you play consistently, but it is never worth it if you casually play. You are better off farming Tarkov Arena and earning some GP Coins and Lega Medals to turn into Roubles. You can even buy GPUs from Ref (level 4) using GP Coins from Tarkov Arena. You just need to transfer them from Arena to the base game.
