The introduction of a new Weekly Boss is one of the highlights of the 3.6 version of Genshin Impact. The Guardian of Apep Oasis hides in the dry regions of Sumeru, and is a new member of the “Story Boss Too Good to be Wasted” club alongside its fellow companions who are visited by the Traveler weekly.
Unlocking and defeating this boss might be quite a laborious act if you’re not caught up with most of the recent quests, but you need to face it if you’re thinking about leveling characters like Baizhu, Kaveh or Kirara in the long run. So here’s everything you need to do before tackling the Guardian of Apep Oasis in Genshin Impact.
How to Unlock the Guardian of Apep Oasis Fight in Genshin Impact
The Guardian is faced during the climax of Nahida’s second Story Quest, “Sapientia Oromasdis Chapter Act II: Homecoming”. To unlock the quest, the player needs to reach Adventure Rank 40 and have completed the final Sumeru Archon Quest “Chapter III: Act V – Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises”. Naturally, you also need to complete Nahida’s first Act.
Additionally, completing The Chasm’s World Quests up until “Perils in the Dark” is necessary for progressing through the second step of Nahida’s quest, where you’ll eventually have your first face-off with a toned-down version of the boss. After completing the quest’s final step, you can challenge the Guardian of Apep Oasis in a new Domain in the Desert of Hadramaveth. You also get a free Waypoint during the process.
How to Defeat the Guardian of Apep Oasis
The Guardian’s fight is very different from its extremely toned-down story version. It now hits like a truck, has gained some extra health and also learned a few new tricks during its final phase. Aside from extra bulkiness and some painful slaps, the first thing you’ll notice is a new attack where he slams the ground and summons various corruption balls. Avoid those at all costs.
During the Heart of Oasis phase, various creatures will spawn. Keep an eye on the root-like monster as he’ll protect his minions with Dendro shields. They can be brought down quickly with Pyro or Electro, but destroying the root will bring all shields down at once. Keep killing those creatures until the Heart’s health is at maximum.

The Guardian’s final form is deadly but manageable. It will occasionally create rumbles on the ground which culminate into a bigger explosion. As soon as you see the “Enter the Shield of Revival’s Hymn” message popping up, search for the green dome and stay put until you know it’s safe to leave.
Its other main attacks are mostly explosions on the ground, but it may occasionally hit you with various vines that can one-shot you. As soon as you see a DNA-like strip circulating around the boss, start running until the attack resolves. From here, it will mostly repeat its attacks until you finally bring it down.
The main rewards are his Weekly Boss drops, required to level Talents for various characters like Baizhu or Kaveh. Hopefully, he’ll also drop some Dream Solvents to help you transform the useless drops into the ones you’ll need.
