There are a total of nine heroes in Ravenswatch, each based on a classic fairy tale, piece of folklore, or mythology. Unlocking each is fairly straightforward, and you don’t have to solve any complicated puzzles or uncover hidden areas to access them.

Scarlet

  • Starting Health: 100
  • Trait: Lycanthrope
  • Unlock Requirement: None

Scarlet is one of the four heroes available from the start, and beating Chapter 1 with her unlocks Aladdin. She transforms into a werewolf at nightfall with a new set of abilities at her disposal, thanks to the Lycanthrope trait. She’s quick on her feet and has a wide variety of fast strikes that allow her to chain multiple dagger slashes and close in distance. Similarly, her wolf form allows her to leap, claw, and bite her way through enemies.

The Pied Piper

  • Starting Health: 80
  • Trait: Infestation
  • Unlock Requirement: None

The Pied Piper uses his flute to send out magical notes to attack enemies and deal damage from afar. While he doesn’t deal the most damage from the get-go, he’s a relatively easy character to play thanks to his ranged combat, which allows him to attack from a distance safely. He can also summon up to 20 rats that follow him around, and he can order them to take out enemies or finish them off.

Beowulf

  • Starting Health: 120
  • Trait: Last Wyrm
  • Unlock Requirement: None

The third and arguably the most hard-hitting hero of the default roster is Beowulf. He wields a large sword that hits slowly but causes massive damage with each blow. He can also call on his Wyrm, which boosts his power, special, and defense. Consistently buffing Beowulf with Wyrm turns him into a damage-dealing machine, making him an ideal melee-focused character.

The Snow Queen

  • Starting Health: 90
  • Trait: Ice Crown
  • Unlock Requirement: None

The Snow Queen is a nimble character that deals damage from afar with tons of movement potential. While her damage output isn’t as high as the other default characters, she can apply the “CHILLED” status to enemies, reducing their movement speed by over 40%. She can also shatter CHILLED enemies thanks to her Ice Crown trait, making her one of the best characters to bring in while playing co-op.

Aladdin

  • Starting Health: 100
  • Trait: Jinniya of the Lamp
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete Chapter 1 with Scarlet

Aladdin starts off a bit weak during the run but progressively becomes one of the strongest characters in the entire game. His Jinniya of the Lamp trait allows him to boost either his power, special, or defense. He has a fast melee attack with multiple hits that end in an AOE, and the Ring Jinn power summons a Jinn that does devastating damage, which is boosted in both damage and range if held. He’s also a great character to have on the team because his bonuses can be shared between team members.

Melusine

  • Starting Health: 90
  • Trait: Siren’s Call
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete Chapter 1 with The Pied Piper

Melusine is one of the harder characters in Ravenswatch to control because of her unique trait, Siren’s Call. She alternates between the SING and MOVE stances, which allow her to attack and move, respectively. During the SING stance, she can’t move, which makes her vulnerable to incoming damage, so positioning is a key factor when choosing to play with this character.

She has a useful defensive ability that lets her dive into a pool of water, making her intangible for a limited time. With enough practice, though, Melusine has the potential to deal devastating damage thanks to the Wisp’s ability to target multiple enemies.

Geppetto

  • Starting Health: 80
  • Trait: Dummy
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete Chapter 1 with Beowulf

Geppetto is easily one of the most fun characters in the game, and that’s because of his Dummy trait. He can build up to three dummies at a time, and these can attack, distract, and explode. Geppetto can heal his dummies using his special Cogsplosion while also inflicting damage to enemies in its proximity.

Using this Meca-Puppet Ultimate summons a giant Puppet that hits everything in sight and deals a ton of damage too. If you’re a fan of playstyles involving minions, this is the way to go.

Sun Wukong

  • Starting Health: 110
  • Trait: Taiji
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete Chapter 1 with The Snow Queen

Sun Wukong, not to be confused with the Destined One from Black Myth Wukong is another stance character who can switch between Yin and Yang. He is the ultimate co-op character because his Yin states give all heroes 15 shield for 6 seconds, which can be exactly what they need in a tough situation.

During Yang, his damage is boosted by 100%, but he takes 100% more damage, too, as a result. This makes him a pretty tough character to maneuver, especially in the earlier parts of the run. Making use of Empty Palm becomes essential because it allows him to block any incoming attacks for 0.5 seconds. If you’re new to Ravenswatch, we recommend starting with other characters till you get a feel for enemy and boss attack patterns before playing with Sun Wukong.

Carmilla

  • Starting Health: 100
  • Trait: Dhampir
  • Unlock Requirement: Complete Chapter 1 with Aladdin, Melusine, Gepetto, or Sun Wukong

The latest character to join Ravenswatch’s roster is Carmilla, a vampire who uses Blood to fuel her abilities. She’s a bit of a glass cannon because while she does deal a lot of damage, players can easily use up her Blood resource, which is replaced by her health if depleted.

This makes resource management an active part of her playstyle. Thankfully, both Tearing and Death Kiss allow her to earn more Blood, so a good balance of using those abilities along with Blood-consuming powers can result in a powerful hero that’s really rewarding to master.

These are all the heroes you can unlock in Ravenswatch as of the 1.0 release. There’s a very good variety of playstyles available, and you can get dozens of hours out of mastering each hero and unlocking their different talents and skins.
