Unlocking Characters in Metal Slug Tactics

There are a total of nine playable characters in Metal Slug Tactics, each with their unique core abilities, active and passive skills, and loadouts. Unlocking each character usually boils down to completing a successful run while unlocking different regions along the way.

This is quite similar to how unlocking new characters works in other rogue-lites as well, and here’s a breakdown of the conditions that need to be met to unlock each character in Metal Slug Tactics.

Metal Slug Tactics CharacterUnlock Requirement
Marco RossiUnlocked from the start
Eri KasamotoUnlocked from the start
Fio GermiUnlocked from the start
Tarma RovingUnlock all the regions in the game
Nadia CasselWin a run with 6 different characters
Trevor SpaceyWin a run having completed 2 regions in total
Ralf JonesWin a run having completed 4 regions in total
Clark StillWin a run having completed 3 regions in total
Leona HeidernWin a run with 8 different characters
  • During a regular run that ends with fighting General Morden, players will have the option to liberate different regions. Trevor, Ralf, and Clark will unlock depending on how many regions you have liberated before the final boss.
  • Tarma only requires you to unlock all the regions in Metal Slug Tactics, while Nadia requires players to beat the game with six different characters.
  • Finally, Leona requires you to beat the game with every other character, so she’s the last one you’ll unlock no matter how you progress through the game.

Overall, most characters will be unlocked through natural progression and experimentation with squad lineups. It’s a great way to incentivize players to try out new strategies because each character brings something new to the table. Similarly, new loadouts for each character can be unlocked by beating the game with them in the squad.
