How To Trip Enemies in Tears Of The Kingdom

Utilize an old Brawl tactic once again.

If you’re looking to survive in the wild world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to know how to fight and get a leg up on the opposition. While there are a variety of skills that you’ll be able to utilize, sometimes you may need to fight dirty and take any advantage you can get. Tripping enemies is a rather unique skill that will work great against some of the larger enemies in Tears of the Kingdom, such as Lynels or Boss Bokoblins. But, how do you use this skill, and what kind of an advantage will it actually give you?

The first thing you’ll need to do is get your hands on plenty of ChuChu Jelly. These common enemies can be defeated with a few whacks, so you won’t need to worry about losing against them. You’ll want at least five Jelly in your inventory to start using this particular trick.

After you defeat a ChuChu, they’ll drop at least one Jelly for you to add to your inventory, so you may need to farm these enemies for a little bit to obtain more than enough. It doesn’t hurt to have more than you would think you need, as this can be a tricky maneuver to pull off.

Once you have obtained enough Jelly, enter the Inventory Screen by pressing the + Button on your controller of choice. If you’re in a battle against a major foe, like a Lynel that is ready to charge at you, this is exactly where you’ll want to be. Press the X Button while hovering over the item you would like to hold, in this case, the Jelly, and add five of them to your grip.

While I may not be facing off against a major foe in the photo above, it’s meant more for demonstrative purposes. At this point, you’ll want to drop your Jelly in the immediate line of movement of the enemy you’re facing. For example, Lynels charge up for a bit and then will rush directly at you. If they hit the Chuchu Jelly, they’ll go humorously flying past you, giving you the perfect opportunity to sneak in a few strikes against them.

Test this method out on any enemy that you’d like, just to see if it works. They may need to charge toward you for it to work properly, but you’ll at least have a new defensive mechanism. You won’t be able to use the D-Pad Up method to grab and hold your items, as you can’t grab enough of them at a time, so you’ll need to make your way into the inventory to make this method work.
