Trading cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket can be done within the Social Hub tab or the middle icon in the lower bar. Then select the Trade button where all your trading offers and history will reside.

Trades can only be done with friends, so those who have exchanged Friend IDs with you or accepted through the Wonder Pick. After choosing a friend to trade with, select almost any card from your collection and offer it up to trade.

The other person will then select their own card of the same rarity for the trade. Select OK on the trade notification and the trade will occur once both players accept it. The card you selected will be gone and the new card will enter your collection.

Trading has a few requirements and the first is that players need Trade Stamina to complete trades. Like Wonder Pick Stamina, it replenishes over time or you can buy more with Poke Gold and Trade Hourglasses. Poke Gold can be bought with real money, while Trade Hourglasses are earned as mission rewards.

The second requirement is that both cards in the trade must be of the same rarity. This also applies to cards equipped with flair. The game will not let you choose a lower or higher rarity card on the receiving end of the offer.

Promo cards, two gold star, three gold star, and gold crown rarity cards cannot be traded at all. The list of cards eligible for trade can be viewed by selecting the question mark icon at the Trade menu, then under Detailed Trade List.

The third requirement is that higher rarity cards will need Trade Tokens to complete the trade. Trade Tokens are earned by exchanging high rarity duplicates from your collection, though you must have at least two of the same card remaining afterward.

One and two diamond rarity cards do not require Trade Tokens. Here is how many Trade Tokens each rarity will need for one trade:

  • Three diamond cards – 120 Trade Tokens
  • Gold star cards – 400 Trade Tokens
  • Four diamond cards – 500 Trade Tokens
