Monster Hunter Wilds does support manual saving, so players will be able to save almost anytime they want to. The game provides three load slots, which means players can start a new character without overwriting the previous one.

Players can manually save by going to the System tab in the pause menu and selecting the Save option. The Save option can also appear in the Recently Viewed tab of the pause menu but can disappear from the list if other settings are chosen.

The game will also prompt players to save their game when quitting. The Return to Title Screen and Quit Game options in the System tab will ask players if they want to save before exiting the game. This is very handy on PC, where the Quit Game option will save your progress before closing the application.

However, players cannot manually save whenever they want. The manual save is only available while there is no quest active. Players cannot save during a monster hunt or active main quest, so be sure to save after each quest completion just to be on the safe side.

Is There Autosave in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Monster Hunter Wilds does contain an autosave feature that cannot be turned off. The feature will automatically save the game before hunts, after hunts, and a few specific points during missions. It does not activate for smaller actions, so always manually save before ending a session.
