How to Play Fortnite on iPhone

Battle Royale on Apple mobile devices.

Apple removed the Fortnite app from the iOS App Store in late 2020 after developer Epic Games broke store guidelines and subsequently sued the iPhone maker over it. However, the game can be playable on Apple’s mobile devices in other ways.

How to Play Fortnite on iPhone and iPad

There are currently three methods to play Fortnite on iPhone and iPad. Each will require a high-speed internet connection, the iOS Safari browser, and a separate account that is not the Epic Games account necessary to log directly into Fortnite. Some may require an additional purchase, while others may not.

Amazon Luna

Luna is Amazon’s cloud gaming service that will stream games to a variety of devices either through an app or a web browser, including mobile devices and some televisions. Fortnite is available to play on the service for iPhone and iPad through the Amazon Luna website on Safari, but requires a subscription to access.

Players can access Fortnite through Amazon Luna by having a subscription to either Amazon Prime or Luna+. Amazon Prime costs $14.99 monthly or $139 annually, and comes with other Amazon features such as faster delivery, Prime Video service, Amazon music, and more.

A Luna+ subscription costs $9.99 per month, and only offers a collection of games to play that can rotate out at any time. Some of the games include Fortnite, Resident Evil 2, Metal Slug, Devil May Cry 5, and more.

Nvidia GeForce Now

Nvidia GeForce Now members can also play Fortnite on iOS devices through the Safari web browser via cloud gaming. Players will need to go to the GeForce Now website and sign into their GeForce Now account.

There are three GeForce membership tiers. Players will only need the Free tier to access Fortnite, but comes with a one-hour session limit. There is also the Priority tier for $9.99 monthly/$49.99 per six months that includes up to 1080p resolution and 60 FPS with a six-hour session limit, while the Ultimate tier for $19.99 monthly/$99.99 per six months offers up to 4K resolution, 120 FPS, and an eight-hour session length.

Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service is the final method to play Fortnite on iPhone and iPad. While the service is part of the Game Pass Ultimate subscription, no additional purchase is required to play Fortnite through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

All players need is to go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming website through Safari, and sign in with a free Microsoft account. Fortnite is free to play on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but all other games available on the service will require a Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
