How to Get the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest

There are quite a few Hang Gliders scattered around the island in Sons of the Forest, but we’ll cover the one that is probably the easiest to get, and is conveniently located on a cliff, so you can immediately fly around the map with it and have some fun. See what’s new in the Sons of the Forest Update 01 in the related link below:

Spot the camp icon on the west border between the grass and snow. We’ll go there with a couple of screenshots to help you out. If you are approaching from the west side, there’s a nice little path (arrows are pointing east in the image). If you are coming from any other side, expect a lot of hill climbing but that’s also fun, I guess. In the end, you are looking for a small camp with two tents (where you can save game and sleep). If you are looking for landmarks for orientation purposes, on your GPS device you should look for two cave icons. Between those two caves, you are looking for a cliff (zoomed in for clarity).

As soon as you reach the camp, head west to the cliff edge, and the Hang Glider will be waiting for you.

How to Fly with Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest

Now, you may wondering how to use the Hang Glider in Sons of the Forest so that you don’t fly into a tree and get killed.

It’s fairly simple, especially if you have flown an airplane in any video game with WASD keys. First things first, you need to sprint off a cliff while you’re carrying the Hang Glider. You can press jump, but it’s not mandatory.

  • With W, you turn the nose down and gain more speed
  • With S, you turn the nose up and gain more altitude (but lose speed)
  • With A and D you turn left and right

Be careful with how you land, because hitting a tree might just be a death sentence. I have managed to fly to the edge of the map and, sadly, you can’t fall into the abyss. And also, you can’t carry the Hang Glider in your backpack. If you are not using it, you are just supposed to… leave it there. Too bad it’s not foldable. Anyway, that’s about it for this guide.
