The Helldivers 2 and Killzone collaboration is now active and with it comes a new weapon, armor set, and customization items. The iconic StA-52 assault rifle used by the Helghast Army is featured in almost every mainline Killzone entry and players can now access it in Helldivers 2.
StA-52 Assault Rifle in Helldivers 2
The StA-52 Assault Rifle is only available through the rotating Superstore for 615 Super Credits. It is the second weapon to be added to the Superstore after the Stun Baton, which costs 200 Super Credits instead.
Here are the stats for the StA-52 Assault Rifle in Helldivers 2:
Stat | Value |
---|---|
Damage | 70 |
Capacity | 56 |
Recoil | 19 |
Fire Rate | 790 |
Weapon Trait | Light Armor Penetrating |
Considering that access to a Premium Warbond costs 1000 Super Credits, the pricing for a single weapon is a bit high and is also rightfully criticized by the Helldivers 2 community.
If you don’t have any Super Credits lying around, you either have to purchase 375 SC for $5 TWICE, or 1000 SC for $10. That’s a lot of money for a single weapon, and that’s not accounting for everything else in the collaboration.
If you buy everything from the first batch of the Helldivers and Killzone collaboration which includes six items currently, you’ll need a total of 1975 Super Credits, which is roughly the price for two Premium Warbonds.
To make matters worse, all these items are in the rotating Superstore. This means that once the timer runs out, other items will replace them, and players will have to wait for these items to reappear at random. This creates a clear sense of FOMO, pressuring players to either pay for the desired items immediately or grind unnecessarily to earn Super Credits through missions or existing Premium Warbonds.
Collaborations like this should be available to purchase indefinitely without punishing the players for not purchasing the items on time. Additionally, putting weapons in the Superstore feels misguided as Arrowhead did not take this approach early on and only added armor sets and cosmetics.
Is StA-52 Assault Rifle Worth Buying?
Personally, I wouldn’t purchase this weapon or any of the collaboration items due to the outrageous price and the FOMO-driven approach to acquisition. The AR itself is decent, but not worth the asking price. It does well against the Illuminate and Terminids but struggles with the Automatons because it lacks medium armor penetration.
If you have the credits and really love Killzone, then it’s worth having in your collection but overall, you could just save the credits for a Warbond that usually has way more content like the Urban Legends Premium Warbond.
