The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom brought back many familiar dishes that filled Link’s stomach and saved players from premature game deaths, but it also introduced a few odd meals as well. One of those is the Dark Curry, a dish that looks dubious at best and toxic at worst. However, this unsightly concoction is not only edible but also healing, as it does a very good job of refilling Link’s heart containers. So, it doesn’t hurt to know how to make it.
Dark Curry Recipe in Tears of the Kingdom
To create Dark Curry, players need to use a pot and cook a Dark Clump, Hylian Rice, Goron Spice, and another ingredient that will conflict with the effect of Goron Spice, like an Ice Fruit. This last ingredient is especially important because otherwise, you will create the Warding Dark Curry instead. Warding Dark Curry can also be a helpful meal to make, as it grants Link a temporary Gloom resistance effect, but it won’t be what you’re looking for with simple Dark Curry.
The necessary ingredients for Dark Curry can be found in local shops, or if you’re feeling particularly adventurous (or short a few rupees), you can find them in their natural locales. Procuring the Dark Clump naturally will be the most painstaking of the bunch because you either obtain it from fighting a terrifying Gloom Spawn, fighting an intimidating Phantom Ganon, or visiting a Bargainer statue who will exchange it for Poe — which can only be found in the hellish Depths.

The other ingredients are less troublesome to source locally. Hylian Rice can be found by cutting tall grass, and ingredients with conflicting effects to Goron Spice can be found all over Hyrule, such as Ice Fruit in the Gerudo Highlands or Hebra Mountains. Goron Spice is the only ingredient that must be purchased from a merchant and can reliably be found in Goron City.
