How to Heal in The Rogue Prince of Persia

Get that HP up!

Like most roguelike games, you need to capitalize on healing to make sure you survive. In The Rogue Prince of Persia, you’ll definitely make mistakes here and there, so healing is a crucial part of the game. In this short guide, you’ll learn how to heal in the game and other methods revolving around restoring your health points.

How to Use Healing Potions in the Rogue Prince of Persia

Once you get damaged in the game, you can immediately use a health potion. The icon on the upper left screen indicates how many health potions you have remaining. You innately have a health potion at the start, and you only have to press the downward D-pad to use it. Once you press the button, the Prince will take some time to drink the potion, giving the opponents an opportunity to attack you.

The best way to heal is to make sure the area is clear, or you can kick them by pressing Triangle or Y so they are knocked down or staggered before drinking a health potion.

How to Refill Healing Potions?

At the start of the game, you only have one charge of health potion. Once you use it, it’ll remain zero until you reach the next area that contains a fountain or well.

The fountain already heals you for a big chunk of health points, and it also replenishes your health potion stacks. Some players choose to smash forward and avoid as many enemies as possible to refrain from getting damaged when they are already low on HP.

If you are unscathed while passing through a fountain, you can refrain from using it and just fast travel back to get it when you get damaged.

Other Ways of Healing in the Rogue Prince of Persia

Other methods of healing revolve around unique effects or buying items outright. During your playthrough, you’ll eventually find a merchant selling a few items to help you improve. Some are weapons or Medallions and some are consumables like the Anahita’s Blessing.

The Anahita’s Blessing restores a large number of health points (600) once you purchase it. So, if you find yourself in a pinch, you should always buy this consumable to restore some HP.

Other methods include effects such as the Health Insurance Medallion bought from the same merchant. If you have this Medallion, you can buy weapon upgrades or Medallions instead of Anahita’s Blessing to heal the Prince.

However, you’ll only receive a return on investment on this Medallion, probably in the midgame, because you’ll be spending gold for it without increasing your HP or player power.

If you are looking to play on the go, the game runs smoothly on the Steam Deck. You can also pick up the Prince of Persia Lost Crown if you find this game fun!
