How to Get Toolsets in Escape from Tarkov

Time to get through those Factory quests.

Toolsets are quite difficult to find in Escape from Tarkov. Depending on which maps you frequently run and the places you visit on those maps, you might not even find a single Toolset after several successful raids. To get those Toolsets easily, you need to find the right spots where technical loot may spawn. There are a few “best” spots and going to those spots frequently will be your best shot at getting Toolsets in Escape from Tarkov.

Where to Get Toolsets in Escape from Tarkov

Toolsets fall under the “technical” item category, which means they can spawn in containers that offer technical loot, like Technical Supply Crates, Toolboxes, Duffle Bags, and others. There are also “loose” loot spawns that can either spawn on top of tables, boxes, shelves, or even the floor or ground. Depending on which map you run, you’ll need to figure out where they may or may not spawn in those maps.

Factory Runs as Scavs

For an easy strategy in the early wipe, I always go to Factory as a Scav and just hit up all the Toolboxes and Technical Supply Crate spawns on the map. Queue times will only take 1-2 minutes, and each raid will take 2-3 minutes to finish. You want to loot the Toolboxes by the helicopter crash. There are four possible spawns already.

Next, you go to the med tents and loot the Technical Supply Crate. Go down and loot the other Technical Supply Crate. Run to the stairs and go to the 3rd office dorms. On the first floor, there’s a possible Toolbox spawn on top of the barrels. Next, you can go straight to the cabin near the forklifts for three possible Toolbox spawns.

Lastly, you can go to either Gate 3 or the office area to extract. If you go to the office area, two possible Toolbox spawns are on the first floor. If you go to Gate 3, there’s a Toolbox spawn near the small shed and on the metal shelf.

You can extract it easily, and the main purpose of running Factory is that it is extremely fast. If your goal is to progress your PMC as fast as possible, this strategy is a great way to farm Toolsets or just technical loot in general without sacrificing time and money.

Customs PMC Runs

As a PMC, you want to run Customs. Since BSG has added industrial plants in the center in patch 0.16, technical loot is practically everywhere now on Customs. Go to all the industrial plants and loot all the Toolboxes and Technical Supply Crates. Always check the ground and the metal shelves for loose technical loot spawns. There is more loose loot than loot from actual containers like Toolboxes inside these plants.

If you don’t want to run Customs, Streets of Tarkov’s camp and Lighthouse’s water treatment plant should also be great places to get technical loot items.

Toolsets are needed for quests like Farming Part 1 and Capacity Check, which are both finished in Factory. You don’t need them to be “found in raid” so you can also buy them in the flea market. If it becomes too expensive, you can start farming them and even make a bank on selling these Toolsets.
