How to Get the Trust Handcannon in Destiny 2

"Worlds end. And when yours does, make sure you have a partner you can rely on." —The Drifter

I’ll be honest, I love hand cannons. While the PvP meta has evolved through SMGs, scout rifles, and pulse rifles, I’ve never let the hand cannon go. And if you’re like me or even thinking about dabbling in hand cannons, you’ll want to get Trust as soon as possible. Here’s how to get the Trust Handcannon in Destiny 2.

How to Get the Trust Handcannon in Destiny 2

Trust was first released half a decade ago, in 2018, and quickly cemented itself in loadouts for both PvE and PvP. Yeah, there was a time where hand cannons were pretty decent in PvE. Over time, like most weapons, it was sunset and removed from the loot pool.

But with the release of Lightfall, it’s back. And just like before, it’s available through the Gambit Vendor, The Drifter. A little funny that the game is named Trust, and The Drifter is definitely not trustworthy.

While you can’t Focus Decode Trust, you can obtain it through Gambit Engrams obtained by ranking up Gambit Reputation or by playing through Gambit matches. There’s no way of increasing your chances of getting Trust to drop, and many players have reported playing dozens of games and still not seeing one.

But it’s out there, promise. It’s worth grinding for, as its return to Lightfall is marked by a whole slew of excellent perks. The only issue is that it’s not craftable, which means you’ll probably be grinding quite some time before you get one with the right roll.

Some of the more interesting perk combinations to try are Opening Shot and Explosive Payload for PvP, for accuracy and increased effective range. For PvE, Hipfire Grip and Explosive Payload, but it can’t quite compete with scouts and pulse rifles in end-game activities.
