How to Get the Ignition Code in Destiny 2

“I can decode anything with a grenade launcher.” — Saint-14

If you want a grenade launcher that will make rank-and-file enemies quake and even Guardians scurry, Ignition Code is a great gun. It’s one of the highest rated grenade launchers for PvP and one of the few that fits into a kinetic slot.

And its perks? Magnifique. It’s hard to pin down what Ignition Code’s perfect god roll is because it gets value from so many of them.

Originally, Ignition Code was locked to Season of the Splicer activities, which was awful if you didn’t have the season pass. But it’s 2023 and things have changed. Now, anyone can access it… if they don’t mind waiting and grinding.

Ignition Code is part of the Dares of Eternity loot pool, which rotates weekly. There are four total loot pools, which means it can take almost a month for you to run the chance of getting Ignition Code. But… the odds still aren’t great. There are 11 other weapons in the week that Ignition Code is on the table, including the entire Lightkin and Scatterhorn armor set.

Which means, yeah. You’ll probably need a lot of Dares of Eternity runs in order to get the weapon to drop. Fortunately, as you complete Dares, you’ll get Strange Coins, which can then be exchanged. You’ll need a lot of luck, but Ignition Code is worth it. And if you don’t have Chroma Rush, it’s also a chance to grab that auto rifle, too.

Ignition Code’s God Roll in Destiny 2

It’s hard to go wrong with Ignition Code’s build, which is good because it’s not a craftable gun. But by and large, this is a grenade launcher that sees the most value in PvE, so the perks skew towards that.

  • Basic Launcher Barrel → Hard Launch. Stability -10, Blast Radius -5, Velocity +15.
  • Basic Magazine → Spike Grenades. Grenades fired from this weapon do increased damage on direct hits. +10 Stability.
  • Basic Trait 1 → Sliding partially reloads this weapon’s magazine. Ignition Code has one bullet, which is why this is so great. +20 Range, +30 Stability until firing.
  • Basic Trait 2 → Vorpal Weapon. Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active. Damage increase by 15%.

With the Season of the Defiance upon us, now’s a time to get those raid weapons. How to Get Cataclysmic in Destiny 2.
