How to Get the Gilded Axe in Nice Day for Fishing
I thought we were fishing.

In Nice Day for Fishing, you’ll need the Gilded Axe to pass through the forest to the east of Honeywood. You might not even notice it, but you have probably seen it before in the Lake of Honeywood.
It involves several quest chains to get the Gilded Axe. Here’s a complete guide to the whole questline revolving around getting the Gilded Axe in Nice Day for Fishing.
Where to Get the Gilded Axe in Nice Day for Fishing

When you go through the main quests in the forest, you’ll eventually get blocked by a huge tree. You’ll get tasked to find the Gilded Axe so the Woodcutter can chop down the tree and unlock the next area.
However, you need both the Gilded Axe Handle and the Gilded Axe Head to make the Gilded Axe.
How to Get the Gilded Axe Head
First, you’ll need the Gilded Axe Head, which is in the Lake of Honeywood, but to the east, close to the town. It is hard to fish because you cannot access the area without unlocking the wave currents.
Finish the other quests until you reach the Prove Thy Worthiness quest. You’ll get this after getting the Rusty Breastplate, giving it to the guard, and getting the sandals. The sandals provide access past the goblin beach and to the Coast of Azerim because you can jump over the cliff now. On the Coast of Azerim, you’ll see the Statue of Thidon. The statue will give you the Prove Thy Worthiness quest, and you’ll have to catch all the previous fish in the Lake of Honeywood.
Once you finish it, the Statue of Thidon will activate the currents everywhere. Go back to the Lake of Honeywood and refer to the first image above. The Gilded Axe Head is in the Shallow Waters of the Lake of Honeywood, closer to the town (east). Switch to the magnet and cast your fishing line. Use the currents to guide you to the Gilded Axe Head. If you are having trouble using the current, just remember that you can only adjust your fishing line vertically.
If you need to go right or left, leave it exactly on the current to move it horizontally. Be careful of the Vikendi Fish because it’ll still get hooked even if you are using a magnet.
Once you have the Gilded Axe Head, go back to the Town of Honeywood and go through the dialogue. You’ll eventually end up with another quest to get the Gilded Axe Handle so Bodger can make the axe.
How to Get the Gilded Axe Handle

To get the Gilded Axe Handle, you’ll need to get three Darkwood Leather and five Schmargon Steel. All of these items are on the Coast of Azerim. You’ll fish these things out in the Coral Garden to the west.
Pick up all the Palm Nut Bait while going to the Coast of Azerim.

Go past the Statue of Thidon and start fishing on the other side. Use a Palm Nut as bait and start catching some Darkwood Diggers. Catching one will give you the fish and some Darkwood Leather. They average around level 6, so it should be easy at this part of the game.
Next, you want to switch to a magnet bait and grab all the Schmargon Steel on the bedrock. Use the currents to guide your fishing line to get the Schamrgon Steel. This is a great way to practice using the new currents. You should know that the currents sometimes disappear. Remember that the fishing line will only move horizontally if it is in a current.
After getting these materials, return to Bodger, who’ll craft the handle for you. Next, he’ll ask you to retrieve his hammer for the fourth time, just as you thought you were done with this questline. After that, you’ll get the Gilded Axe, and you can go to the forest again to talk to the Woodcutter.
