How to Get Started in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

First off, and this is a big one. You need to have completed the Hunter Rank 7-star questline. This will bring you to the actual end of the Monster Hunter Rise base game. If you’ve defeated the Thunder Serpent Narwa, then yes, you’ve completed the first requirement for entering the Sunbreak expansion.

After you’ve done this, make sure you’ve purchased the Sunbreak expansion – you obviously can’t play it without actually owning it. If you haven’t yet, you can pick it up on the Nintendo Switch or PC, depending on where you are playing.

Finally, once you’ve logged in, downloaded the update, and are good to go, you’ll need to head to the bridge at the entrance of Kamura Village.

Here you’ll find an NPC to talk to who will begin the first quest of the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion. After following her orders, you’ll be sent to fight your first monster in a familiar locale – the Shrine Ruins.

After this, the story will pick up and you’ll be swept away to the new hub area Elgado where you can do just about everything that you normally do in Kamura here instead. This will be your home base for the entire expansion. Of course, you can fast travel back to Kamura at any point.

Well, that’s everything you need to know about how to get started in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
