Is there a Pokemon more ridiculous than Hitmontop? Don’t answer that. There probably is, but that doesn’t chance the fact that Hitmontop is very silly. But it does have the best Shiny form. Here’s how to get Shiny Hitmontop in Pokemon GO.
How to Get Shiny Hitmontop in Pokemon GO
If you’ve always wanted a Fighting-Type Pokemon that has built-in angry eyebrows, spins on its head like a dreidel, and has a vaguely pink-like Gi for its oddly round body, then Shiny Hitmontop is for you. Unfortunately, it might have the rarest spawn out of all the Hitmons and getting it to evolve from a Tyrogue is equally challenging.
But Niantic has taken mercy on our poor Shiny hunting souls. For a limited time, Hitmontop and the other Hitmons are at the center of the Catch Mastery event. This is part of the run up to Pokemon GO’s Season 10: Rising Hero event, and it only makes sense that the Hitmons are part of the warmup crew.
And while Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee will be spawning with wild abandon during the March 5 event, Hitmontop requires a little more effort. Each time you complete a Research Task for the Catch Mastery event, there’s a chance that you’ll get a wild encounter as a reward.

Each wild encounter will actually be an encounter with Hitmontop! And during this event, you’ll have an increased chance of finding a Shiny Hitmontop.
Unfortunately, the likelihood of you finding Shiny Hitmontop this way is still extremely low, as you’ll only encounter a dozen or so Hitmontop over the course of the event. But you can increase your chances by gathering 7 km eggs and hatching. These 7 km eggs will hatch into Tyrogues that have an increased chance of being Shiny. And if a Shiny Tyrogue has equal offense and defensive stats, it can then evolve into a Hitmontop.
Those odds aren’t great, but it’s the best we’ve ever gotten.
Outside of the event, your best odds are hoping to find a Hitmontop as a wild overworld encounter in urban biomes. Alternatively, you can try to hatch Tyrogues from 7 km eggs. But once you get a Hitmontop, you might consider bringing it into League battles.
Hitmontop isn’t as good as Hitmonchan, but it’s still viable. Here are the best moves for it.

Good luck getting a Shiny Hitmontop of your own! And while you’re at it, here’s how to get ready for Shiny Smeargle.
