How to Get Reptile Hide in Enshrouded
Time for a new backpack!
To get better armor and the Medium Backpack, you’ll need Reptile Leather, made from Reptile Hide. However, you won’t find it lying around in chests or gather it from plants. Instead, you’ll need to hunt a specific enemy found in the Blackmire.
Here’s how to get Reptile Hide in Enshrouded and turn it into Reptile Leather.
Where To Farm Reptile Hide
Reptile Hide is dropped by Snapjaws, crocodile-like enemies found in the Blackmire. The easiest way to start looking for them is to fast-travel to the Blackmire Ancient Spire and head down toward the surrounding swamp.
Snapjaws are the primary source of Reptile Hide, so focus on hunting them rather than searching unrelated areas for the material. The Snapjaw Tar Pits west of the Ancient Spire are also worth exploring if you want to farm more of these enemies.
How to Craft Reptile Leather

Reptile Leather is made at the Drying Rack by drying Reptile Hide and Salt. In order to get the Drying Rack, you will need to rescue the Hunter, Atalan Skree.
Each batch requires the following materials:
| Material | Quantity |
| Reptile Hide | 1 |
| Salt | 3 |
| Output | 3 Reptile Leather |
Each batch takes 60 seconds to finish. Since one Reptile Hide produces three Reptile Leather, you won’t need to hunt too many Snapjaws for recipes that require only one or two pieces of leather.
How To Get Salt
At this stage of the game, you might already have some salt stockpiled just from exploring. No need to worry if you don’t, as Salt isn’t a very hard resource to get.
You can find Salt by mining Salt deposits in the Egerton Salt Mines in Springlands. Look for white, crystalline deposits along the mine walls and use your pickaxe to collect them.
It’s a good idea to farm as much Salt as you can, as it’s one of the catalysts used in the Drying Rack to make other important crafting materials like Dried Fur. It’s also used to make Nitrate later on.
What Is Reptile Hide Used For?
Reptile Hide is primarily used to craft Reptile Leather, which is an ingredient in several pieces of equipment. One of its most useful applications is the Medium Backpack, which requires six Reptile Leather and six Linen.
Reptile Leather is also used in various armor recipes, including pieces from the Adventurer, Ranger, Cutthroat, Mage, Healer, and Tank sets.
If you’re planning to craft several of these items, it’s worth farming extra Reptile Hide and keeping a supply of Salt at your base. That way, you can process the hides into leather whenever you need to craft a new piece of equipment.
