The main tasks in Nice Day for Fishing usually revolve around fishing for a specific type of fish. They are quite mysterious when it comes to where to catch the fish.

You might have your first problem when you get the Picky Pikes quest, especially if you don’t read the dialogue as much. Here’s exactly where to find the Picky Pikes fish in Nice Day for Fishing.

Picky Pikes Fish Location in Nice Day for Fishing

To the left of the ravaged starting town (Lake of Honeywood), there’s shallow water nearby. Use your boat from the quest to go to the middle of the lake. You’ll find different types of fish there. The Picky Pike fish spawn in the greater depths, so your fishing line won’t reach the greater depths if you don’t have the upgraded fishing rod.

Use the Essential Rod instead of the basic NPC Fishing Rod. This should be enough to reach the greater depths. The Ancient Rod (chest in the Lake of Honeywood) should also work.

Once you are bringing down the fishing line to the greater depths, look for the long, green, and spiky fish, as seen in the image above. This is the Picky Pike fish, which is usually level 8.

If you didn’t fish more than usual, you’ll definitely be one or two levels below it. However, the point of the quest is to teach you all about items, to round up most of the combat mechanics.

Attack as much as possible before starting the fight against the Picky Pike before it turns away. Use your Gleaming Eye Scorcher spell on cooldown.

When it runs away, stop attacking and focus on blocking. You don’t have to worry about perfect parries. You can just hold the block and you’ll be fine. Your HP can handle the damage as long as you don’t accidentally attack Picky Pike while it’s turned away.

When you take damage, start using your healing spell on cooldown. This will use up all your energy throughout the fight, which is where the new feature comes in.

The quest wants you to use a Stamina Potion to refill your energy. Open up the items during the fight and use a Stamina Potion. If you aren’t confident you will win against the Picky Pike, don’t use the potion, look for another Picky Pike, and start over.

You should have four or five attacking and defending phases before fully catching the Picky Pike. If you choose to catch other fish and end up getting to level 8, the fight should get way easier.

If you continuously follow the main quest, you’ll definitely be underleveled, but the quest is still perfectly doable at level 6.
