How to Get Paper Reed in Enshrouded

If you are planning to build a farm or start fishing in Enshrouded, you will need Paper Reed. It’s present in many crafting recipes for farming and fishing equipment such as Bait and Irrigation Gates. The game doesn’t really guide you on how to get Paper Reed, and the plant itself can be confused for a standard shrub that gives you Plant Fiber. 

So, here is how to find Paper Reed and start a farm for it so you don’t need to gather it again.

Where to Find Paper Reed in Enshrouded

Paper Reed is gathered from reeds, cattails, and papyrus plants growing near bodies of water. You can find these plants along lakeshores, rivers, and ponds throughout Embervale. If you have a water location marked on the map, there is a high chance you will find a bunch of crops there that yield paper. 

Now, Paper Reed is present in most regions that have bodies of water. The easiest place to get it is in Springlands or Revelwood since they are low-level regions. Here are some reliable spots to gather the item.

• A pond East of the Springland Ancient Spire, past the Small Flint Mine. 
• West Of The Ancient Spire near Harvest Homestead.

Once you find the plant, approach it and use the Harvest interaction to collect Paper Reed. Each plant can provide between one and five Paper Reed, depending on the source.

How to Farm Paper Reed in Enshrouded

If you need a steady supply of Paper Reed, you can grow it at your base using the Seedbed.

After harvesting Paper Reed for the first time, you can unlock seedlings that let you cultivate different types of reeds.

Here’s what you need:

Craft the seedlings at the Seedbed and plant them in suitable soil at your base. Once they have fully grown, harvest the plants to collect more Paper Reed.

This is a convenient way to maintain a supply of the material without constantly exploring Embervale for more plants.

What Is Paper Reed Used For?

Paper Reed is used in several crafting recipes and can also substitute for Plant Fiber in recipes that accept either material.

Some of its notable uses include:

• String: 3 Paper Reed when crafting by hand.
• Simple Fishing Bait: 4 Paper Reed and 1 Critter Parts for 5 bait.
• Capybara Food: 2 Paper Reed and 3 Algae for 50 food.
• Capybara Bait: 2 Paper Reed, 2 Algae, and 1 Sugar Cane for 10 bait.
• Irrigation Gate (Small): 8 Paper Reed.
• Irrigation Gate (Large): 12 Paper Reed.
• Swimfins: 4 Paper Reed.

Paper Reed is also used to craft several bamboo decorations, baskets, and other building items.
