How to Get More Boxes in Pokemon Sword and Shield

If you’re someone who wants to get more box space so that your adventures in catching Galarian Pokemon can go on infinitely, then well, we’ve got a handy tip for you. You might have noticed that while accessing the PC in any Pokemon center, that you have the ability to move Pokemon around between 8 different boxes. Now that the Pokemon universe has expanded so much and we have things like Pokemon Home allowing us to move entire arcs worth of Pokemon from elsewhere, you might feel like 8 boxes isn’t nearly enough. Well, you’d be right. Here’s how to get more boxes in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Now, contrary to common sense, the answer to getting more storage space isn’t purchasing some sort of Rotom PC upgrade, nor is it actually filling every single box to capacity. All you have to actually do is to make sure that each of the existing 8 boxes that you’re granted at the start of the game has a least one Pokemon inside it, before exiting the PC in the Pokemon Centre. When you load back in, you’ll actually notice that there are now 16 boxes instead of the original 8. However, this isn’t the end of the line when it comes to size of your boxes. Well, the number, at least.

You’ll be able to increase your number of boxes twice more by doing the same thing – making sure that every box currently available to you has one Pokemon in it before exiting the PC in the Pokemon Centre then loading back in. You can do this until you have 34 boxes available to you, which is the maximum that the game appears to allow at this stage. We hope that there are going to be new Pokemon coming with the Isle of Armor expansion that is set to land in June 2020. We’re already looking forward to being mates with the Galarian Slowpokes, so who knows what else will be in store? At least with this guide, you’ll have ample space to store them all.

Now that you have some info on how to get more boxes in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it should be easy for you expand your storage capacity and to hold the one million Eevees that you’re breeding during this current quarantine downtime. Sure, it’s not infinite space, but it’s about as good as we’re going to get here.
