How to Get Iron Bars in Moonlight Peaks
Pumping some iron.
Iron bars are the 2nd tier of minerals available in Moonlight Peaks. They unlock iron-tier tools, several buildings, and some quests even require them.
Here’s a step-by-step guide showing you when you’ll unlock the iron tier and where to find iron ore in Moonlight Peaks.
Where to Get Iron Ores in Moonlight Peaks

Iron ores can be found in the same area you find copper ores: the Cave of Echoes. The cave is located south of your home (Leon’s Paddy), in Misty Shores.
Misty Shores unlock after finishing the “A Bridge Too Far” quest that opens up the cursed bridge and gaining access to Misty Shores, the Ambrosia Mansion, and the Cave of Echoes.
Before entering the Cave of Echoes with plans to farm iron ores, you must upgrade your base tools to their copper version, specifically the Rusty Pickaxe. You’ll need 1,000 coins, the Rusty Pickaxe, and 3x Copper Bars to upgrade the pickaxe. Go to the Broken Hammer and talk to Ridge. Open his shop instead of the house upgrades dialogue, and look through the third tab that contains all the tool upgrades.
Once you have the Copper Pickaxe, go to the Cave of Echoes, make a quick right turn, and follow the path.
In the map above, you’ll see where the iron ores usually spawn. Iron ore nodes look like stones with a little grey or silver to them. With the Copper Pickaxe, you can only mine the small ones, so you might have to go through the whole path on the east side to burn through all your energy. Minerals respawn every day in the cave, so you don’t have to worry about running out.
Once you have enough iron ore, smelt it in the Furnace using charcoal to get Iron Bars. I suggest using the first Iron Bars to upgrade your Copper Pickaxe to an Iron Pickaxe in the Broken Hammer. This way, you can also mine the big stones that have higher yields. You can even clear out those annoying big stones at home for more space. Mining big stones is way more energy-efficient than mining the small ones (unless you find a small pure node).
