It's easier than it looks.

Like most cozy farming sims, one of its most sought-after features is developing relationships with the townsfolk. In Moonlight Peaks, it is actually a little easier to do just because you can take note of what gifts they like through the in-game encyclopedia.

You still need to do a little testing, but here’s a gift guide to help you out in befriending all the townsfolk in Moonlight Peaks.

Almost every item in the game can be given as a gift, even things that you just pick up like Purple Azaleas or ores. Each gift gets a response from characters, and while they may say things that suggest they don’t like it or give a half-hearted response, you can still check your relationship page (heart icon) in the in-game menu to see if they did like it.

After giving a gift to a character, you’ll see your last eight gifts given to a character when you hover over your relationship with the character. The item will be seen as an icon in the “Previously Gifted” slot, and it should have a marker on it depending on how they felt about the gift. Here’s a quick cheat sheet:

  • No marker on the icon – they don’t like or hate it, but appreciate the gift.
  • Star icon – they like the gift.
  • Heart icon – they love the gift and might be one of their favorite gifts.
  • Cross or X icon – they hate the gift.

As a good and lazy strategy, I suggest gifting almost anything since it still counts toward progress as long as they don’t hate the gift. For example, I always get a surplus in Eggs since I didn’t want to cook every single egg all the time. So when I gather Eggs every day from my Cheeken farm, I just hold on to them in my inventory and gift them to everyone I pass through.

Once you progress enough and expand the farm, you’ll eventually reach a point where you have a surplus of other “better” gifts, like juices, wines, minerals, and more.

There’s also a Love Potion available, crafted when you unlock the Cauldron given by your mother and repaired by Fiona.
